Inspiring Conversations with Giovanna Camila of The Comparona Edit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanna Camila.

Giovanna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been creating content since 2018, when I first started in Atlanta’s food and lifestyle scene. What began as sharing my love for restaurants, food, and photography quickly grew into working with PR companies, attending events, networking with brands, and building a brand of my own.

After COVID, I stepped away from content creation for a while to focus on motherhood, but I never really stepped away from being creative, that’s always been me. I eventually found my way back through photography, my love for thrifting vintage pieces and furniture led me to creating an event rental company, Vintage Vida Rentals in Atlanta. Through that experience, I realized how much I loved working with small businesses.

That eventually led me to create The Comparona Edit in 2025 a creative agency where I could bring everything I love under one roof: content creation, photography, branding, social media strategy, and intimate brand activations.

At heart, I’m a creative director. I’ve always been drawn to creating experiences, seeing things from another perspective, and helping others. Now, I’m building The Comparona Edit here in Orlando and creating a community around that same passion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth ride, but I also wouldn’t say it’s been extremely difficult. When I moved to Orlando last fall, I was new to the city, new to the community, and essentially starting over, but I just went for it. That’s really how I approach things in life. I’d rather try and know that I tried than let fear keep me from doing something.

One of the biggest challenges has been building trust and a name for myself in a new market. I’ve had the experience for years, but people here didn’t know me yet. So there’s been a lot of networking, handing out business cards, attending events, sending DMs, emails, just walking into business and introducing myself, and honestly figuring out what works and what doesn’t.

There have definitely been days where I’ve wondered, “When are things finally going to take off?” ” Should I be doing this?” I’ve questioned whether I should niche down, whether I should say yes to everyone, and whether I was doing enough. But that process has also taught me so much about knowing my worth and recognizing that I don’t have to lower my standards or take every opportunity just because it’s available.

I’ve also been incredibly fortunate that my first two clients here have been so supportive. They’ve watched me grow from the beginning, constantly encouraged me, promoted my work, and genuinely rooted for me. Having people believe in you while you’re building something new means so much.

Now, almost a year later, I’m finally starting to see things pick up. And I think that’s the biggest lesson for me: sometimes you’re doing all the right things, but you still have to give people time to discover you, trust you, and see what you can do. You just have to keep showing up until they do.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Comparona Edit . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Comparona Edit is an all-in-one creative agency created for small business owners and brands.

Our goal is to take that weight off our clients’ shoulders while becoming an extension of their brand. We provide content creation, professional photography, social media strategy and management, branding, creative direction, and intimate event activations. Whether a client needs a content day, help creating a social media strategy, a brand photoshoot, or support planning a business event, we’re here to guide them from the idea all the way through execution.

We want the content we create to have a purpose. We help businesses show up consistently, reach the right audience, tell their story, and communicate what makes them different. We can’t promise that a reel will magically make someone a sale, but we can make sure the right people are seeing the brand and understanding what it has to offer.

I also believe strongly in educating our clients. Social media and digital marketing are such an important part of running a business today, and I don’t want my clients to feel like they have to hand everything over and never understand what’s happening. Through strategy and coaching, we help them understand how to use these platforms intentionally and confidently.

What sets The Comparona Edit apart is that it really is a reflection of my entire creative background. Photography, content creation, PR, events, styling, branding, and social media have all been part of my journey. Instead of choosing one thing, I created a space where all of those skills could come together.

I just love taking an idea and turning it into something tangible, and I love thinking outside the box. That’s what I want The Comparona Edit to be known for: bold ideas, intentional creativity, and brands that stand out.

I’m probably most proud of the fact that The Comparona Edit feels completely like me. It’s not just a business I created because there was a market for it. It’s the result of years of experience, trial and error, creativity, and figuring out what I’m truly passionate about. I want our clients to know that when they come to us, they’re not just hiring someone to post on Instagram. They’re gaining a creative partner who is invested in helping them bring their vision to life.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My biggest advice is simple: get out there! Attend events, introduce yourself, talk to people, collaborate, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. I’m actually an outgoing/ introvert, but when it comes to my business, I’ve learned how to become an extrovert. I talk to people, I network, and I genuinely try to build relationships rather than just collect business cards.

Collaboration has been huge for me. I also believe in helping people without always expecting something in return. If I can connect someone to a resource, support their business, share their work, or help them in some way, I do it. I believe that when you genuinely have someone’s back, you naturally find people who will have yours too.

As far as mentorship goes, listen to people who have already done what you’re trying to do. You don’t have to take every piece of advice you receive, but listen. Pay attention to people who genuinely care about you and want to see you succeed. And at the same time, learn to trust your own gut.

Most importantly, just go! Even on the days when you don’t feel like doing anything, you don’t want to talk to anyone, or you’re questioning whether you should even attend the event—go anyway. Some of the opportunities and connections that have meant the most to me have come from simply showing up.

You never know who you’re going to meet or what one conversation can lead to. So put yourself out there, be genuine, help others, and keep showing up. I truly believe it will come back around.
