Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Caiaffa.
Hi Juliana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Brazil, and my journey has definitely not been a straight line. I actually have a degree in Law and an MBA in People Management, and I worked in the legal field in Brazil before discovering a completely different passion: the beauty industry.
What started with makeup eventually became a career that has been part of my life for more than 15 years. I worked as a makeup artist and educator, taught professional and self-makeup classes, and had the opportunity to work with so many different women throughout the years.
Then I moved to the United States, and like many immigrants, I had to learn how to rebuild my life and career in a completely different country. I’ve been living in Orlando for over 11 years now, and during that time I continued working in beauty while also exploring entrepreneurship and, more recently, content creation.
Becoming a mother also changed me tremendously. It changed my priorities, my routine, and even the way I see my professional life. For many years, when someone asked what I did, my immediate answer was, “I’m a makeup artist.” Today, that answer doesn’t fully describe me anymore.
I still love beauty and it will always be part of my story, but I’ve realized that I don’t have to fit into just one title. Today, I’m building a new chapter as a content creator and entrepreneur, sharing beauty, lifestyle, products I discover and love, and pieces of what life in the U.S. looks like through my perspective as a Brazilian woman.
I feel like I’m in a season of reinvention. After building a career, moving countries, becoming a mother, and going through so many personal changes, I’m allowing myself to evolve professionally too. I don’t have every part of the next chapter figured out yet — and I’ve learned that’s okay. I’m enjoying building it as I go.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was starting over after moving from Brazil to the United States. When you move to another country, you don’t just change your address — in many ways, you have to rebuild your life, your professional network, and even your confidence from the beginning.
I had already built a career in Brazil, so learning how to navigate a new market, a new culture, and a different language was challenging. Over the years, I had to adapt many times, find new opportunities, and learn not to be afraid of starting over.
Motherhood brought another major transition. Balancing work, raising a young child, and still trying to build something of my own has probably been one of the most challenging seasons of my life. There are only so many hours in a day, and I’ve had to learn that sometimes growth looks different depending on the season you’re in.
More recently, another challenge has been allowing myself to evolve professionally. After spending so many years being known as a makeup artist, it can feel scary to say, “I want to explore something different.” There’s a certain comfort in staying with what you already know and what people already associate with you.
But I’ve learned that changing direction doesn’t erase everything you built before. You take the experience, the skills, the relationships, and the lessons with you. I think that has been one of my biggest lessons: starting over doesn’t always mean starting from zero.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My professional background is deeply rooted in the beauty industry. I’ve worked in beauty for more than 15 years, primarily as a makeup artist and educator, and that experience taught me much more than makeup. It taught me how to communicate, teach, understand women, build trust, and create a personal connection with an audience.
Today, my work is evolving. I’m bringing that experience into content creation, where I share beauty, skincare, lifestyle, products and discoveries, as well as pieces of my experience living in the United States as a Brazilian woman.
I think what sets me apart is that I don’t approach content simply as someone showing products. I have years of professional experience behind my opinions, but at the same time, I communicate in a very relatable way. I like making people feel like they’re hearing a recommendation from a friend rather than watching an advertisement.
I’m also not interested in creating a “perfect life” online. I’m a woman in my 40s, a mother, an immigrant, a professional, and someone who is still evolving and figuring things out. I think there are many women who see themselves in that.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to reinvent myself without losing the experience that brought me here. I’m not trying to erase the makeup artist I’ve been for so many years. I’m taking everything she taught me and using it to build something bigger.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’ve changed so much over the years that it’s funny to think about who I was growing up. But one thing has always been consistent: I’ve always been very independent and strong-willed.
Even when I was younger, I liked finding my own opportunities and making my own money. During college, while studying Law, I did several internships and even sold jewelry on the side. Looking back, I think that entrepreneurial side of me was already there long before I ever thought of myself as an entrepreneur.
I was also very determined — my family might use a slightly stronger word for it! I’ve always had a strong personality and, once I decided I wanted something, I usually found a way to make it happen.
What’s interesting is that I never grew up with one perfectly defined dream or career path. My interests and my life changed many times, and I changed with them. Today, I actually see that as one of my strengths. I’m not afraid to learn something new, work hard, or reinvent myself when life takes me in a different direction.
