Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Ross.
Hi Keith, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
JKO initially started as a business venture between me and a very good friend whose name is Josh. We started out as a promotional company to host parties. The initials JKO originally stood for our names Josh, Keith, Orlando. This was in 2012. JKO was not a clothing line at the time. Over time the business evolved and it became what is known now as JKO Collection that specializes in wearable apparel for women, men, and children.
JKO now stands for Just Keep On. We had the logo made for the company and once I saw the logo, I knew instantly that the logo belonged on a t-shirt. I then began to put the logo on my personal shirts and began wearing them everywhere and that started to bring awareness to the product and we received a lot of positive feedback. My business partner and I decided to end our initial shared goal. However, our friendship remains solid to this day.
Somehow I knew JKO needed a deeper meaning. It was at this time that my sister, Kim came up with Just Keep On(JKO). This, we felt, would help individuals like ourselves to continue to fight, strive, and persevere through the daily struggles of life.
Later we added Living… Dreaming… Achieving… at the end of the JKO. This enhanced our vision for achieving our intended goal of motivating others to “Just Keep On” pressing forward until they reach their full potential. I learned along the way that if one does take business seriously, your business would never make it off the ground. At first, I did not put in all the necessary effort that is would take to and to me, it showed. Others may have seen it differently. With a full-time job in hand, I feel that I am now working the business and giving it my utmost attention; I now know that if I Just Keep On, JKO will become a household name.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Moving forward and motivating myself has been the biggest challenge. I had to first realize that if I wanted to be successful, I must make the business a priority and stop seeing it as a part-time mission. In short, I must be present and in the moment if I intended to reach my goal of encouraging others with a positive message.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of the things that I do is come up with ideas for the next new item to present to the public. After coming up what I think is the next big thing, I test my target market by getting feedback from them regarding colors, style, and sizes. The customers know what they like, just ask them. The thing that I believe that sets us apart is that fact that we care about the quality of the product. Another thing that sets us apart is that we give back to the community. JKO is involved with the youth and we constantly look for ways that we can be of service in worthwhile projects.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Playing! I really enjoyed growing up with my cousins and enjoying our summer vacations together. My cousins were my best friends.
