Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice and Winter.
Hi Candice and Winter, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Towards the end of 2018, we both knew and felt the desire to pursue more meaningful work. The idea of having the control over our own futures. So what do we do now? What is our next move? A mutual friend of ours mentioned becoming professional organizers. Shocked was our reaction. Is this an actual career? It sure is folks! We began researching professional organizing, did our research reading all the books and absorbing all the available content.
In July 2019, it was time to see if we could make this dream come true. We began with organizing friends and family. Our first job was an office and when we were done we looked at each other and we knew this was it. We were going to do this!! We officially became Swan Simplicity in October of 2019, then in February of 2020, we grew our passion into full-time employment – with the outcome of serving people and helping them achieve personal peace. We still pinch ourselves each day as we truly are living our dream and doing what we love. The joy and happiness it brings when we finish each job is beyond words. Our clients are our family.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When you are doing something you love it truly makes all the difference going to work each and every day. We wake up ready to go with smiles on our face. We are our own bosses. We are in charge of our own destiny. Wow! We dream big and have so much we want to do still. This was something that each of us had been missing in our previous careers.
The only struggle was when the pandemic hit and we both just had quit our corporate jobs in February of 2020. We did not know what would happen as our job is going into people’s homes and businesses and that was taken from us. We landed a job working to help dorm students of the University of Tampa that went home for Spring Break and could not return, as the school had temporarily closed due to Covid. This job lasted from the end of April till the end of August. Wow. Do these small miracles really happen? Yes they do!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We got the idea for our business name, thinking of SWAN for our love of Lakeland and the community we get to live in and SIMPLICITY for the importance of the work of decluttering and organizing. We want our clients to have the ability to Live.Life.Simply.
As professional organizers, we simplify the lives of our clients. This is done by assisting them in decision making to declutter and downsize when needed, organize and take control of their personal spaces. We offer virtual and in person organizing services. We assist with: donation and discarded material removal, storage solution suggestion and purchasing, organization implementation and maintenance sessions when needed.
When we meet with our potential clients, we instantly are bonded and can’t wait to jump in and begin the process of organizing. Our clients truly become our family. We are a judgement free zone and our clients can feel this about us. When someone truly loves what they do then that shines through and clients can see that.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson we have learned is to never give up. If you have a dream then go for it. We honestly pinch ourselves once a day to make sure this really is our life. The options are limitless. There is so much out there just waiting for someone to grab it.
Hard work. You have to be ready to put in the work. Support of your friends and family. These are your people and you really need a good support system behind you because when you are building a business you are all in and some days are long!
