Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanna Carollo.
Hi Breanna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am born in New York and raised in North Carolina. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in communication studies. I used my Instagram as a personal diary in high school and college to document my life. From my adventures in school to my time in Paris, I enjoyed sharing my journey no matter where I went. My Instagram and my YouTube channel became my safe spaces through life’s toughest moments. No matter what I was going through, I knew I could use my content as an outlet to create my own happiness. After Uni, I moved to Orlando for the Disney College Program and decided to stay in the hopes of making it in a massive company. Everything seemed perfect until COVID shut us down. I had a choice to made when things closed: Stay in Orlando or head back to North Carolina. Now because I refused to give up on my dreams, I chose to stay. I made amazing friends and have gone on journeys I couldn’t dream of going on if I had left.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. I wouldn’t even know where to begin to start when it comes to the trials and tribulations I’ve gone through. To note a few things, ever since coming to Orlando, I have fought to stay. From terrible living situations to the uncertainty that covid brought, to mental health struggles, to now juggling two jobs with barely any days off, working for what I want in life has not been easy. At times it feels like I haven’t made any progress, like all of the battles I’ve fought meant nothing when it came to building a better life for myself. But I keep on going because the world stops for no one, so neither will I.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Right now, I work as a merchandise cast member in Hollywood Studios and a Sales Associate for Pandora at Disney Springs. While I work hard at everything I do, this is far from what I want to do in life. In my spare time, I enjoy creating content for my Instagram, my YouTube channel, and my Etsy Shop. I create lifestyle content that follows my adventures through life. While I would love to make this a livable career, I am currently pursuing a career in communication as a more stable source of income.
For now, content creation is a hobby that brings a sense of normalcy and reality to the Disney atmosphere. While I do create whimsical content, I do not shy away from sharing my struggles in everyday life. My accounts are a welcoming place to all. I strive to make those I meet feel like family, whether it’s in work, in social media, or in everyday life. I am proud of the welcoming environment I create and hope to bring kindness and understanding in everything I do. I am fortunate enough to use my studies in interpersonal and intercultural communication in everything I do. I also have an easy shop of Instagram presets that I sell on the side. This is where I hope to bring magic to other’s photos.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Life continues whether you like it or not. No matter how many times you get knocked down, you have to continue to get back up. Moving forward is the only option because the world stops for no one. That sentiment has gotten me through a lot.
