Meet Rachel Velarde

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Velarde.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my canine health and canine hydrotherapy practices in May of 2017, but have been an avid dog lover my entire life! I have a passion for caring and healing all animals, especially dogs, which is why canine hydrotherapy is my primary focus. I started my journey at an Orlando canine health and fitness center, where I learned much about the health, fitness and well-being of dogs. I decided to take my passion to the next level and completed my hydrotherapy schooling/certification through the Canine Fitness Institute. From there, I decided to open up my own local, small business, called Dip’n Dogs Hydrotherapy, where I have been amongst Orlando’s top canine hydrotherapy businesses for the last 3 & 1/2 years.

I offer Hydrotherapy for dogs who need to heal injuries, manage orthopedic conditions, treat degenerative diseases or rehabilitate pre/post-operation, Fitness & Conditioning swimming for canine athletes, as well as Swimming Lessons for dogs of all breeds and ages to help them learn how to swim correctly and overcome their fear of the water.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, it has mainly been a smooth road. Of course, there have been personal life challenges along the way, but I am certain when you seek out a profession that you love and are passionate about, it is not work but an everyday hobby. I get to make a difference in so many dog’s lives that I am rewarded far beyond what any other job could give me. I give healing as well as take in healing every single day and for that, I am truly grateful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in Canine Hydrotherapy. I also offer fitness swimming and swimming lessons, but my main focus is the water therapy. I provide comfort and healing to canines who are likely suffering from a condition or disease. I treat each dog with love and compassion and am constantly sending them healing throughout their session. I am hands-on, forming a connection with every dog I help, as well as using my intuition to guide me through it. Ultimately, I want to provide full healing to each dog I have the pleasure of being in the water with.

My goal is to always be their mentor, someone they can trust when they are vulnerable and someone who they can go to for comfort and love. Canine Hydrotherapy is more than just swimming, it is an act and art of healing and connecting with an animal. Every part of what I do is in it’s natural form and also a part of nature. Being submerged in water, using nothing but my hands and voice to guide and protect, assuring each dog that I am there and they are safe, all while bringing them solace-there is nothing that compares.
