Community Highlights: Meet Teaira Leslie of Waist Talk Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teaira Leslie.

Hi Teaira, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
A lot of people have watched my journey throughout the years. But what a lot of people don’t know is WHY this journey even started to begin with; back in 2014, I lost my dad unexpectedly… my whole world Collapsed right before my eyes. I feel into a deep depression & became suicidal. I started distancing myself from those who loved me and wanted to be there for me through those tough times but nothing or no one could take away that pain.

I started going to the gym in 2015, I hired a personal trainer and worked out 5XS, I started doing yoga and mediation and finally began to feel like myself again. After months of training, not only was I seeing and feeling better but the people around me noticed a difference as well. Fast forward 2017, I studied to become a personal trainer, I landed my first personal training job at crunch fitness (never again) that lasted for about a week lmao. I became a independent contractor for myself and came up with the name waist talk fitness.

Since 2017 I’ve trained 100+ women both local and non locally. I’ve learned how to cope and manage with my depression through fitness and health, not only for myself for other people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. The hardest part about being a personal trainer is maintaining your own personal goals. I get so wrapped up in my clients goals that I tend to forget about my own.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Waist Talk Fitness is a personal training service in Buffalo NY. I provide in-person training, online training and streaming classes. I’m known for amazing results and creating self-confidence in woman all around the world.

The thing that sets me apart from other trainers is the relationship I have with each client I ever trained. Rather they continue to train with me or not that bound is forever there. I’m proud that I opened my own studio up this year as planned on my vision board. I have a variety of home programs and in-person packages that you can choose from rather you want to take it at your own pace or you need a little push.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, I learned that regardless of what life throws at you, that creative will either turn on or remain off. Covid-19 forced my creative light to turn all the way. I created home programs, 30 day challenges and live-streaming classes because of Covid and it’s been the best decision I’ve made for my business thus far.
