Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Montgomery.
Hi Jazmine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always known that I had a true love for all things film. I started out doing game film and photos for my twin brother’s AAU team I high school, which would lead to me going to college loving it even more minoring in it . My goal was to always work in front of the camera, college just made gain a true love for working behind it. After graduating from Florida Atlantic in 2017, I found myself buying my own camera for personal reasons. I started just doing simple pictures for family & friends , to wanting to take it more serious. Here I am going on 3 years later and I can’t imagine my life without my small business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been the easiest road. Starting out I had just lost my 9-5 job and we all know starting out you spend a lot of money starting out. So trying to fund a business on limited funds, then trying to build clientele.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a photographer and videographer. I specialize mainly in portrait photography for families, youth sports, graduations, and events. I’m mainly doing photography. I’m most proud of my most recent opportunity of getting the chance to teach a four-week photography program for middle school girls in San Francisco. I would say my versatility to do more than one style of photography. As someone that started out just doing sports photography, and videography I’ve been able to adapt and adjust my skills.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I would say Pinterest and Tik Tok. Pinterest has helped me with poses, outfit ideas for clients, and finding locations.
