Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Youngman.
Hi Rebecca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
How I became an Intuitive Life Coach, Psychic Medium and Energy Healer. Born in Germany, I spent most of my upbringing relocating and readjusting to life between Europe and the United States. With my father in the U.S. Army, I became accustomed to meeting new people and eventually leaving them. Heartache became the norm and so did journeying inward. As a young child, I would have very intense experiences of clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and telepathy. Confused by these experiences and unable to articulate what was happening, I would have emotional outbursts of extreme fear and anxiety. The only fun memory I have around these experiences was my ability to help the local dairy farmer know whether one of his cows was pregnant with a calf at the time of conception. My sensitivity to the energies surrounding me became overwhelming, causing me to eventually suppress my gifts and abilities, or so I thought.
In early 2008, the flood gates opened and I began having the same experiences again, only this time more intensely. Though I was intrigued, the unknown caused me to feel afraid. I attempted to ignore what was happening but later felt an intense desire to explore it and learn more. A sequence of events transpired that led me down a path of self-realization, from receiving validation of my abilities from my deceased grandfather through a reading from a renowned psychic medium to having an unforgettable experience during an energetic healing session, which led me to strengthen my own understanding and use of my intuition through years of identifying, honoring, and purging all of my repressed emotions and insecurities. The betrayals, the anger, the fears, the sadness, the heartaches, the lies, the guilt, the shame, every emotion I once deemed as “negative,” I now understood kept me from being my authentic self and were the catalysts to my greatness.
During this time of self-exploration, I was working for an electrical contractor as the HR Manager, and in early 2014, I decided to start my own business. It was scary, exciting, and a lot of hard work, especially since psychics were ridiculed, bullied, and frowned upon by most people. I worked my 40 hours a week at the day job while spending my nights and weekends doing sessions. In the beginning, I did a lot of free readings just to build my reputation and confidence. Eventually, I put myself on Groupon, which helped me gain even more clientele. In 2016, I had enough business to go part-time at my day job while continuing to grow. Finally, in 2019, I was able to quit my HR job and invest all of my time into business AskRebecca.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I can say the bumps along the way played a significant role and shaped me into who I am today. Shortly after I started my business in 2014, my mother was diagnosed with rare terminal cancer. In between work and clients, I spent as much time with my mother as possible. Doing my best to support her through treatments and be there for her. She passed away in 2015. It was an emotional time, and my grief was a catalyst to stripping away a layer of fear. I reasoned if my mother could pass at the age of 58, life was too short not to pursue all of my heart’s desires. It helped me take greater risks with putting myself out in the world as a psychic. I also dealt with attacks from religious groups, friends, and even strangers who felt comfortable enough letting me know I was a witch, possessed by demons, had mental issues or was being controlled by the Illuminati, which all seemed way more ridiculous than my having extrasensory perception that all humans embody.
Those experiences helped me realize just how powerful fear is, especially of the unknown. It also helped me to stop worrying about what others thought about me and whether or not they liked me. It didn’t matter. I liked me, and I was helping many people through their own traumas, fears, insecurities, loss of loved ones, and so much more. The next big struggle came in 2019 when my 23-year-old son committed suicide. This is and will always be the worst day of my life. Thankfully I was able to take the time I needed to grieve and heal. After processing all of my emotions, I realized I needed to channel my grief for good. My son’s passing was another catalyst that stripped any residual fear I had left of the unknown to wiped out. This is when I quit my day job and pursued my business full time. In 2020, covid hit and created another speed bump on my path. Here I am today in July 2021, stronger than ever before, still supporting old and new clients. I couldn’t feel more blessed or grateful for all that I have experienced and endured.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an Intuitive Life Coach, Psychic Medium and Energy Healer. My mission is “Helping People Help Themselves.” What sets me apart from other life coaches or traditional counselors and therapists are the extrasensory abilities I have to be able to connect with clients on a much deeper level to give personalized insight based on the impressions I receive and then provide the tools necessary to master their own destiny. I’m very passionate about helping others in whatever way I can, whether it be relationships, love, career, trauma, grief, connecting with the afterlife, helping with missing person cases and crimes all you have to do is ask.
I do psychic readings, chakra balancing, and energy healings. I also work with local businesses utilizing my HR skills along with my psychic abilities to help with any problem areas such as moral, mindfulness, conflict, stress, and emotional issues along with any needs with policies and procedures, etc. I enjoy bringing like-minded individuals together so once a month I try to do a Meditation & Mimosas event to get our zen on and socialize. I pride myself on integrity and affordability.
Can you talk about how you think about risk?
I subscribe to the motto no risk – no reward. For me the circumstances dictate the amount of risk. We take risks every day, from small to large. Most aren’t even thinking about all the risks they’re taking on a regular basis, like falling in love, drinking alcohol, smoking, driving a car, taking the bus, going to college, having a child, purchasing a home, riding a roller coaster etc. So why shouldn’t it be any different when it comes to being yourself, pursuing your passions, desires and happiness, or creating a business? The beautiful part about risk is you can always change your mind and circumstances if the risk doesn’t pay off in the way you hoped. In my experience, most risks aren’t the end of your existence, and even if they do not turn out in the way you expected, more than likely, it showed you what didn’t work so you can try a different approach. It’s all trial and error. Never give up.
I’ve taken many risks in my life, from joining the Navy, financial investments, starting a business, going against societal norms, and just being myself. To me, the risk is a part of life and needs to be embraced.
