Exploring Life and Business with Steve Greer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Greer.

Hi Steve, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi Everyone! I was a tourist to Orlando up until 2008 when I moved here to the ‘Sunshine State’. I met and married a local girl while at Disney and have remained here ever since! I had always been involved in entertainment back in England (where I’m from) as a performer in bands or as a DJ for weddings & events and have doing that since around 1990. There, I was lucky enough to play in the grounds of Windsor Castle, The Café Royale in London and with legendary stars from the music world including Eric Clapton, Mike Rutherford and Brian May at different events.
I am now a full-time, international Elvis Tribute & entertainer with my own business here in central Florida. I work as a wedding officiant, entertainer and vocalist performing daily at assisted living facilities where I meet wonderful people and veterans, whom I hold in the very highest regard. I also perform at corporate events, beach & theme weddings as Elvis, anywhere from Daytona to Clearwater and at places like The Hard Rock Cafe, The Wheel at Icon Park and at several Disney resorts.

I have been featured on Channel 9 Eyewitness News and Fox 35 Good Day Orlando as Elvis, and I was also featured live on Good Morning America as a British wedding officiant for their live TV broadcast from Magic Kingdom Castle! In short, I feel truly blessed to be able to do a job that I love and hopefully spread and share love among great people!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road! Being from another country, I had the process of immigration to navigate through. At first, that limited the amount of work I could attract as many places only considered American born or naturalized citizens. I am on that path now and it’s worth persevering with!

Also, being from a foreign land with a different accent, I found it hard to be taken seriously as an Elvis impersonator! I started out using the stage name I used in the UK; ‘The English Elvis’. That proved problematic so I switched to using ‘Orlando Elvis’ instead. It wasn’t until I began to actually sing that people would realize I could sing with an ‘Elvis’ like accent! There must be a scientific reason for that, but I’ve yet to discover what it is! LOL!. Funny enough, that was actually highlighted by Eyewitness News in their piece on me!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Steve Greer Enterprises LLC, we offer a wide range of entertainment products. We specialize in weddings and events, so we provide services to engaged couples and party planners to organize and run their event or wedding. This can include arranging the venue, officiant, entertainment, photography, videography and accommodation. We are also affiliated to a property management company situated around the Disney area, so we can provide villas & condos to out-of-state groups. Happy days!

We offer unique services such as 80’s, Grease & Elvis theme weddings plus associated DJ services and as such we are also considered a one-stop shop for weddings and elopements on a budget! We pride ourselves in making it easy for couples; taking away the hassle and stress, enabling the wedding party to fully enjoy their big day! We are perhaps most proud of the fact that we offer and perform LBGTQ and interracial ceremonies in the firm belief that love conquers all and has no boundaries! Also, being supporters of the ‘giving back’ philosophy, we often provide complimentary or subsidized services to local schools, charities and fundraisers such as OCPS, March for Babies and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Along with weddings, Steve also performs as Stevie G, singing a mix of classic 50’s-80’s songs perfect for corporate, private and restaurant events along with offering telegrams and virtual services.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My main advice would be to never give up! It can be demoralizing at times; chasing people, reaching out to places, not hearing back etc. and just feeling as though you’re not getting anywhere. Resilience, patience and persistence are great qualities! With hard work, the right people behind you and a positive mentality, it will all work out fine!
