Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia White.
Hi Nadia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I would consider myself a Real Estate Maven. When I met my husband, he already had several Investment Properties throughout Central Florida. When you’re dating a Business Owner, you quickly become an unpaid Assistant. While assisting with the properties, it inspired me to get a Real Estate License. That truly helped me learn the business inside and out. I still worked in Retail Management at the time and then moved into a Corporate Recruiting role. At the end of 2017, I transitioned into Real Estate full-time. I currently manage all the Operations of our Investment properties while also being a Real Estate Agent and Property Manager. I am a firm believer in multiple sources of Income, and this pandemic has further cemented that.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think personally, for me, it’s hard to separate my business woes from your personal life. It’s hard to disconnect from your workday when you have a tenant calling late into the evening that their water heater flooded and has damaged the flooring, and they’re without hot water. That is the kind of stuff that keeps you up at night. Whew, and let’s not even get started on tenants who don’t pay rent. Any business in which you have to work with people requires many finesse and management of expectations. People aren’t the most reasonable, myself included. In this current Real Estate market, it’s truly been tough for my clients and me. Seeing dozens of homes and getting outbid or having to reassess your nonnegotiable in a market that is just so competitive. I think that’s hard for me because I want my clients to get their absolute dream home. Having to readjust expectations is hard for anyone.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a self-proclaimed Real Estate Maven, I’m truly passionate about all aspects of Real Estate. Having Investment Properties with my Husband, I am exposed to so many aspects of the business. At the same time, we are currently working on scaling our businesses. Our previous strategy has been to maximize profits by increasing property values through essentially gut renovations upon move-out of former tenants. Some of our units were literally down to the studs; I’ve seen some things. I even nicknamed one of the first 48 because of the crazy maroon paint in the bedrooms.
As a Property Manager for other clients, I truly have to make sure I’m a step ahead, having a valuable network of vendors at my disposal. Working with Residential Sales as a Listing Agent to Buyer’s Agent, my end goal is the satisfaction of my clients. I want to make sure the process is seamless for them, and I’m looking at the transaction from every angle. I think in all of my roles, communication is key. I’m never one to mince my words, and I attribute that to my Jamaican upbringing.
How do you define success?
Success for me is truly being comfortable in all aspects of your life. What I mean by that is having the resources you need to accomplish goals while still enjoying your life. I think it’s important to find that balance. So many people work so hard, back-breaking labor building businesses and watching their net worths increase but they’re not enjoying life. I feel so blessed now for the things I’ve been able to accomplish with my Husband but there are so many more goals and aspirations that I have.
