Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Sebastian.
Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I was a kid and cameras started to advance, my dad would document everything. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations. Sometimes he’d just record us kids hanging out. I look back now and I’m so happy to have all these moments and memories saved because of him. It’s also safe to say I gained a certain level of familiarity with cameras. After a while, my dad’s hobby really started to grow. The more equipment he brought in, the more interested I became. He started teaching me how to use his Canon, and a few months later, I purchased my own.
I loved it! I started off taking pictures at my job after work (thank God for working at Universal Studios) and kept advancing from there. I realized I wanted to tell stories with my camera, so I began creative directing my own shoots. I did that for a few months until I had my first published shoot in January 2020.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The main struggle for me has been finding a niche. I love to try new things and never want to limit myself, so it’s been a bit of a curve. You can’t run a business when you can’t tell your clientele what you offer. I allowed myself the freedom to try a lot of genres over the years but have settled nicely into fashion, headshot, and product photography.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I run a photography business, Tiffany Sebastian Photography. I have nearly a decade in experience and have been running my business for three years now. I specialize in headshot, fashion and portraiture, and most recently, product photography. I’m a published photographer, and my work was most recently seen on the cover of BlackandBlack magazine.
I think what sets my business apart from others is the environment I like to create. I want everyone to be comfortable and confident while shooting. I’ve worked with all types of people, from professional models and actors to someone just looking for a new LinkedIn profile photo. What I’ve noticed is we’re all the same. If the photographer can make the set feel warm and welcoming, and heck, maybe even a little goofy, then it puts everyone at ease and makes for beautiful shots. As far as my brand, I love that it’s inclusive. Some people claim it’s harder to make certain people look beautiful, but I think that’s just not true. There’s beauty in everyone. The services I run are headshots ($100-250) and portraiture ($200-350).
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
They don’t call us “The City Beautiful” for no reason. Orlando is so gorgeous! I love taking walks in nature or the botanical gardens. I do, however wish there was more to do culturally speaking. But I crave change and movement so take me with a grain of salt. Haha.
