Today we’d like to introduce you to Becca Bašić.
Hi Becca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was a dental hygienist who had a dream to leave my day job for a career in art, but the stress of my job brought my artwork to a complete and utter halt. A past love for photography was reignited when I struggled to find the right photographer for my own elopement in 2017. The photographers I found were super traditional, didn’t get my vibe, and they definitely didn’t get my aesthetic. That planted the seed to become the alternative photographer I knew so many needed but didn’t exist in my area!
December 2019, I was laid off from my job as a hygienist and I never went back. At that time, I had already purchased a new camera and was immersing myself with courses and model shoots. Despite the challenges going into 2020, I launched Rock Your Rebellion Photography, serving nontraditional clients with bold, modern, and creative photography!
Today, in addition to portraiture and intimate weddings, my business is branching into planning alternative styled shoots. My love for art, photography, and design makes it the perfect fit for me. These curated shoots will allow industry professionals to create content to market their unique niche while inspiring potential clients with creative possibilities for their own photo sessions and weddings!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If anyone’s road in business has been smooth, then they’re most definitely an anomaly! Accepting that my art block would not allow me to be a full-time artist was really tough. I still struggle with that. I also quickly found that having a photography business was quite a bit more complicated than an art business! Honing in on my style, setting up contracts, and finding out about all the many pieces to the puzzle took a bit of time! And going into 2020, launching a business was a beast of its own.
Thankfully, I didn’t let anything get in my way and I’m so excited about the progress and upcoming expansion! And the best part? My past as a marketing and business educator to artists goes hand in hand with my expansion into alternative styled shoots. I get to help other photographers and industry professionals kill it in their businesses too!

I specialize in alternative photography for nontraditional clients. I create bold, modern, and creative images with a relaxed approach that showcases who clients uniquely are! From sleek, elegant elopements to carnival-themed photo sessions, I’m your girl!
I’m known not only for my niche but my photographic style as well. I love editorial vibes that make clients feel they should belong in a magazine! When it comes to my editing approach, you’ll find emotive, edgy aesthetics and natural skin tones that allows for an artistic but timeless look to my images!
What are your plans for the future?
There are a lot of long-term dreams, plans, and ideas floating about… but, that’s just something everyone will have to wait to find out about!
In the meantime, I plan to continue to infuse my past as a creative business educator with my love for art and photography. That’s why expanding into alternative styled shoots is so perfect for me! I can artistically curate the perfect aesthetics for photographers and industry professionals to market their niche and provide education along the way! My hope is to one day provide workshops and courses to further help those in my industry!
