Meet Kgoody “The Natural Hair Guru”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kgoody. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The story of Kgoody, “The Natural Hair Guru,” is a true tale of redemption, or what she has termed her journey “From Inmate to Influence™️.” She recalls once hearing a quote by Lynn Toler that said, “if I waited until I had all my ducks in a row, I’d never cross the street. Sometimes you just have to gather up what you got and make a run for it.” This statement resonated with her. She took this as a sign or life mantra of sorts and just went for it and chased her dreams of entrepreneurship. With no formal education, she deemed best to focus on turning something she was naturally good at, braiding hair, to formulate a sustainable income. Before she knows it, news of her work spread, and she was booked with more clients than she could handle. That unexpected success afforded her the courage to establish an LLC.

Within months of the Kgoody Kollection™️ products launched, they were on local store shelves and selling online with only organic traffic using no paid advertisement, published her first book, established herself as a trusted source for Natural Hair Care in the Central Florida Market, was booked as a keynote speaker all over the United States, won pitch decks and worked vigorously to make Kgoody Kollection™️ one of the first Handmade black-owned brands to be sold on walmart.com. She had no strategic plan. She called it her “idea of survival mode” and goes on to say, “I pray my journey inspires others to go get their blessings.”

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As one can imagine, the life of anyone one bootstrapping a business is no small task, but try adding on the bricks of being a fugitive on the run to the wagon, and it makes for an even harder push up that hill. Taking all this into account, Kgoody found guidance with the Building A Better Business series that offered here accelerated education on the proper ways to operate a business. This gave her the road map to operating her business legitimately and a strong network of people to lean on. Along with that came the opportunity to participate, and her first pitch deck that she won the award was actually sponsored by the same county where she served her prison sentence. This was her first step towards redemption.

That success led her to other platforms to share her testimony and she was even asked back to teach the class to other up-and-coming entrepreneurs and publish her second book, “Learn the Blueprint to Retail,” a cognitive workbook that teaches other entrepreneurs step-by-step how to get their products on the store shelves. Behind the scenes, Kgoody also hosts free community outreach events annually and sponsors nonprofits with needed resources. When asked why she did, it replied, “ I never wanted to take my freedom for granted again.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The model for Kgoody Kollection is to exceed our customer’s expectations. Each of the Kgoody Kollection products and services are curated to address what was lacking in the Natural Hair Care market. What was discovered is a lack of stylists that exclusively caters to the Natural democratic, inflating consumer cost, and disproportionate representation of vertical leverage for the black businesses in the sector as a whole.

Offering an all-inclusive service menu to the Naturalista community exclusively and producing products that address common customers’ complaints at a retail price in some cases more than 75% less than their competitors. Although Kgoody Kollection™️ is currently a solo operation, she has taken care from the very beginning to secure US vendors and organic formulas with extensive shelf life with proven consumer results. This all allowed for Kgoody Kollection™️ products to be sold in arenas where their target customers shop daily and wholesale to independent retailers and salons offer them over a 200% return on their investment. Kgoody has definitely cornered the market and is someone to watch.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Kgoody actually launched a web series based on her life called “From Inmate to Influence,” that is currently available on YouTube and will soon be available on Goddess Talk Network on RoKu and other streaming platforms. She is also offering weekly accountability workshops on her Instagram social media platform, and most recently, the Kgoody Kollection™️ products will be available on Amazon Prime real soon. When asked about her final remarks, Kgoody explains, “My testimony is not an opportunity to glorify that portion of my life but instead a cautionary tale, with the hopes of inspiring others to push through.”
