Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Stein.
Hi Jeremy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Main Street Magic is hosted by myself and my wife Rhonda Stein, who, along with our two girls, have currently visited Disney World consecutively every month for over five years and continue to hit the parks and stay at the resorts on a regular basis to bring the latest content, news and reviews to our social media communities and listeners, offering a first-hand account of what it is truly like to visit Walt Disney World, as well as Universal Orlando Resort.
In 2017, after an abundance of questions from family and friends about WDW, we decided to launch the Main Street Magic Podcast. With almost a decade worth of podcast production under my belt, working on shows such as The Hardwood Hustle and The Pure Sweat Basketball Show, it was the perfect time to start something new as a host!
The ultimate goal of this show is to provide honest and un-biased information on our favorite places in the world, Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort. Follow along as we journey through the resorts, the parks, the food, the drinks and so much more.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Launching a podcast and totally new communities is never easy, and there have certainly been some struggles along the way as we continue to foster and create growth, but the one thing we have found is that we are able to be part of an amazing community of theme park fans who are very supportive. While we both still work “day” jobs, there is a huge financial balance between constantly visiting parks and working to keep all other things afloat.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I grew up in the small town of Damascus, MD and quickly fell in love with art, music and movies from a young age. Like most grunge music fans in the ’90s, I formed my first garage band in 1995 and would spend the next decade playing in various clubs and bars in different groups throughout Washington, DC and Baltimore, also finding a new love in photography and working with bands on graphic design and the early stages of social media.
In 2005, I moved to Florida after a fateful 2002 introduction to Rhonda, which happened oddly because of the Central Florida-based band Creed. After getting married and starting a family in 2015, I left the corporate world to form a marketing company, focusing on basketball and eventually professional speaking and podcasting.
Living in Florida, a love of Walt Disney World grew, which is why in 2017, after an abundance of questions from family and friends about Disney, we decided to launch the Main Street Magic Podcast. I am extremely grateful and proud that as both a host and producer, I have been involved in over 1000 podcast episodes, which includes over three million downloads to date and has allowed me to sit down and produce interviews with the likes of Mark Cuban and ESPN Analyst Jay Bilas on the sports side, as well as theme parks reporters and analysts like Carlye Wisel and Len Testa.
Never being satisfied and always looking for a new challenge, with my good friends, comic strip creator David King, and industry expert Logan Zawacki, we recently launched another theme park-related podcast we are very proud of. In each episode of Theme Park Shuffle, we are challenged with a random theme park design competition that is sure to entertain casual Disney & Universal fans, themed entertainment legends, and reality game show lovers as we redesign, recreate, and reimagine various theme parks, attractions, restaurants, bars, resorts, and so much more.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
There are a few things that I think are extremely important to building a new business, especially as it relates to podcasting and the theme park environment, and that is to be authentic and to build real relationships. While I had produced podcasts for years, when I decided to begin hosting my own with my amazing wife Rhonda, I was lucky enough to spend about 15 minutes with Disney podcasting legend Lou Mongello, and he offered the advice to be ourselves and not over-produce our shows, people want to hear the real you!
We also find it important and believe it has helped lead to our growth to only review and report on theme park experiences we have actually been a part of first hand, that may be staying at a resort, attending a special event, or dining somewhere on property. We believe in being there in the thick of it with all of the other guests during openings of new attractions, lands and more.
