Daily Inspiration: Meet Holly LaMie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly LaMie.

Hi Holly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a long-time fitness instructor and professional whose world was turned upside down in 2020. I lost my jobs and found myself depressed and without a purpose. After gyms reopened, I quickly realized that the industry I have had been a part of for over 20 years was not the same anymore. I decided to pivot and take my workouts and professional experience to an online platform. I completed a week-long workshop on how to get started with delivering workouts online and was awarded a year’s scholarship for online business coaching. I converted my kid’s playroom into a home studio that I filled with box lighting, a mixer, a microphone, and a web camera. I began offering classes in September and have been growing strongly ever since. I have a deep desire to motivate and encourage others to take an interest in their health and fitness. When I was 13, my dad who was 40 at the time survived two heart attacks and had triple bypass surgery. This made a huge impact in my life and began my journey in the field of Wellness. My hope is that my members live a lifestyle that allows them to partake in the activities they enjoy, spend time with the ones they love, and be independent as long as possible.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My entire career I always worked as an employee but never as an entrepreneur. Having the confidence in myself to start a business was definitely a big hurdle. Not only was I now working for myself, but I had to learn a lot of new things such as technology, website development, sound systems, and the liabilities of teaching online. It was also a shift to begin working from home and being able to schedule a time to work on my business and have time for my “mom” responsibilities. In the first four months, there was a lot of learning and time spent on identifying my business and who I serve. I am still facing obstacles and challenges each day but my passion for what I do makes every experience well worth it. I love being able to do something that brings me and others joy!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I own and operate Holly on Wellness, LLC. Thru Holly on Wellness, I serve a free Facebook community where I have created a place for people to learn more about wellness and fitness. I offer challenges such as sugar detoxes, workouts, and seminars on various wellness topics. I also host virtual workouts that can be taken live or on-demand. My classes include a variety of formats such as barre, kickboxing, strength, and stretch.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
As a child I always remember dancing around the house and listening to lots of music. I’ve always enjoyed moving to music and it’s no wonder I fell in love with instructing fitness classes.
