Inspiring Conversations with Jamala Syed of The Wilkins Way

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamala Syed.

Hi Jamala, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a mom of 3 young children, building up my career. I’m currently sitting in my car waiting in the pickup line while attempting to maximize my use of time. Text messages are rolling in to confirm my next meeting in less than 30 mins. I still need to drop the kids off at grandmas. I’m constantly on the go. Typically, my days start at about 5:50 am and end around 10/ 10:30pm. I drink a lot of coffee! I greet each and every day with the best of my ability. I take pride in being a mom. It has been the most challenging yet rewarding job I’ve ever been given the honor to. My motto is family first. Let’s just face it if you know me you will know my family. It’s like that. I love people, truly I do. I always believe in lifting people up and seeing the good in every situation. I’ve learned this from my parents. They continuously shower me with support so I can’t help but to pass that same love on to others. I have a very positive outlook on life and believe you can achieve anything you put your mind to. I love to see people progress, change and grow. Each day is something new and I welcome it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Time management! This has to be the biggest one. In order for me to be as productive as possible, I need to stay on time and keep focused. I don’t sit idle. I actually like the challenge it makes me feel accomplished at the end of the day. Being productive just feels good.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Wilkins Way?
I love the luxury market I invest my time in helping buyers and sellers. I’ve helped in the process of relocating buyers to the state as well as connecting them to appropriate sources. I’m very active on IG @homesbyjamala I post stories on a daily basis. Day to day things as well as the latest housing market updates. I have a ton of coffee shop and restaurant recommendations. Feel free to check it out! More great things will be coming. Fun fact: I actually answer my phone and in a timely manner. I will always respond.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was born and raised in Connecticut. I attended Naugatuck high school and Southern Connecticut State University for Social Work. I held my first job full-time at 17. I worked for two Optometrists Dr. Deluca and Dr. Kline. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I have been given. A 17-year-old working in a doctor’s office imagines that. Again, someone believed in me and gave me a chance. I had to take the opportunity. My senior year of high school I would leave early and work. It continued on into my college years. Work during the day and attend university in the evening. 8 years later my time was up at the office and my life shifted. I met my husband and moved to FL.
