Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Delpesche.
Ryan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Starting my business was something that was spontaneous in a way. My friends and I always talked about starting our own business, but we never really put it in motion. That was until my friends started their own business named Guilty Scents. Watching the passion and love, they had for developing their craft was an inspiration to me. At the time, I just didn’t know what my niche would be. I don’t find myself to be a creative person and the only thing I knew how to do was make bracelets. I also haven’t made them since I was in elementary school. Well, I decided to just give it a try and bought a kit and from there, I just kept experimenting and trying new designs and new products. It got to a point where I started to get good and actually making quality products. I was very happy with the progress I made and figured it was time to make it a business. That’s how R-Line Accessories came about. The “R” simply stands for Ryan and this is my line of accessories. My girlfriend actually came up with the name so I can’t take credit for that. Starting a business was something that I always wanted to do, but I never expected to happen when it did especially during a pandemic. We’re still a few months in, but the growth has been great so far and we have what we believe to be some of the best handmade bracelets, necklaces, and waist beads you can find. I know the future of R-Line is great and I couldn’t have done it without my support system backing me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I have enjoyed every obstacle along the way. Starting out, my main problems were design flaws. My bracelets were not as durable as I wanted it to be. I didn’t know what materials to use and I was just winging it. As time went on, I experimented a lot and tried a combination of materials until I thought I got it right. Now I’m content, but I still look for ways to improve. From a business standpoint, I’ve encountered obstacles throughout the entire journey. From figuring out all the back-end paperwork to working our way into events, creating a website, gaining exposure, nothing has been easy. At the end of the day, it felt good to overcome all those obstacles. That is what it’s really about. Never giving up and understanding where you are now is not your final form.
As you know, we’re big fans of R-Line Accessories. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in handmade beaded jewelry including bracelets, necklaces, and waist beads. We use a variety of semiprecious gemstones along with a variety of special beads. A lot of people make similar products but we try to stand out. At R-Line, we like to have fun with our products. For instance, we have certain collections that brings you back to your childhood, especially for the 90s babies. We have our four elements collection which is a play on Avatar the Last Airbender. We have a superhero collection which includes bracelets that represents the likes of The Black Panther, Iron Man, and Spiderman to name a few. We’re also big on customization. We allow our customers to be able to create their own piece of jewelry to fit the vibe they’re looking for. We even make our products on the spot in front of customers at our various events. The main thing that I would want everyone to know about our business is that we want to make sure we do our part in giving back. Ten percent of our proceeds help us to create care packages of basic essential needs for the homeless. We also put these bags together ourselves so when you support our small business, you’re also helping us support a person in need.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Everyone that works with me pretty much knows everything about me. I’m a simple person. I do enjoy singing Taylor Swift songs when I’m in the car by myself. Maybe that would catch them off guard. When I say sing, I do mean having a full-blown concert with myself. I’m pretty sure someone has to find that surprising right?
