Inspiring Conversations with Cynthia Melendez of J&S Economic Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Melendez.

Hi Cynthia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Prior to the pandemic, I hired someone to work on my credit. It was something I knew I needed to do for the longest time but like most, I did not know where to get started. After losing my job due to the pandemic like many, I found myself with extra time on my hands and decided to put it to good use and educate myself on the subject. I became obsessed with learning everything there was about financial literacy and how one can utilize credit to get ahead in life. After achieving great results for myself, I decided to help others. I always knew at some point in my life I would have to fulfill a role where I would be helping others; I just had no idea it would be through credit repair. Looking back, I’m glad I decided to take the leap and start my business. Helping others achieve their goals has been the most rewarding task I have done to date.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think most entrepreneurs would agree it’s never a straight, smooth road but it has been a consistent and rewarding one. The biggest obstacle we sometimes face is getting out of our own heads and follow through with the business idea and take the leap of faith. You will never know what’s on the other side if you don’t. I decided there was a reason God put this in my heart and I wanted to follow through and help as much people as possible.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At J&S Economic Solutions LLC, we work with future homebuyers who have a goal of purchasing a home but are not necessarily ready due to their credit score. We do not just repair credit but also strive so that you understand exactly how your credit works and what you can do with it and how to maintain it. A lot of times, I work with clients who had previously been assisted by another credit repair company and I notice that they were not taught how to properly structure their credit report and what accounts should be added to maximize on their credit report and in return your credit score. My goal is to make sure my clients know how to maintain their credit score by knowing exactly what makes up their FICO score and also how they can really use their credit not to just purchase their home but to get ahead in life. I see people stuck in situations due to lack of funds but with great credit, you are able to leverage it to start the business and fund things you wouldn’t normally have money to do. Too many times, I hear people wanting to close down cards or not wanting to deal with credit but it’s because of the lack of knowledge on how it works and how it can truly help you get ahead in life. With a 781 credit score, you are worth 100k + meaning that you can obtain those amounts in funding. My main goal through my platform is for everyone to realize how important credit is and how it can truly change someone’s life.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The main thing I would say I least like about Orlando and I think most people who live here would agree is the traffic.

What I like the most is the diversity here. It’s truly a melting pot of all different cultures especially with a lot of people moving down from all different areas. With me being Puerto Rican, there is a strong Puerto Rican community here and it feels like I have a piece of home with me. With that, I add that there is a lot of options for entertainment such as theme parks, going to the springs, fine dining and not too far from the beach. There’s something to do here for everyone.
