Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Dylan.
Hi Simone, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a kid, I’ve always been into drawing and creating art. Later on after turning 18, I fell in love with tattoos and the artistry that was following behind it all. Besides seeing American Traditional and tribal as the standpoints for Tattoos, I started to see the industry changing and evolve to more custom creative styles. I got my apprenticeship five years ago and I’ve been tattooing for three years now. I started in South Florida then moved up to Orlando January 2021.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Never haha, with anything you want to be great at there will always be struggle. And with the struggle comes strength and humbleness. True appreciation for the craft itself. I am grateful for everyone I have met along the way including the times where things were very difficult.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Anime/Video game/nerd culture illustrative work. Lots of colors! When I was young, I was very into the Japanese cartoons (anime) and was always made fun of in school for liking it, haha. How the Tables have turned now. It honestly makes me very happy that so many people are into the fandoms. I come from a background of art such as painting and pencil drawings. I also dabbled in some color pencil work which I absolutely love to do but takes a lot of time to complete and perfect them, also a lot of stylized realism and flower paintings. Color theory has always interested me, not only in the pieces I create but also when it comes to applying color to different complexions. You’d be amazed what one color may look on one person vs the others, also creating the illusion to eye that you’re reading a certain color but what I actually used was a completely different color. It’s all about the undertones of the skin! I absolutely love what I do and my clients for allowing me to have freedom to create beautiful artwork on them.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
An open mind! The want to learn more and to be humble. If you stump yourself and accept that everything you do works and you need nothing more, then you’ve stopped yourself from growth. Growth is very important, life around us is constantly changing!
