Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Langlois.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started cosmetology school in Naples, FL. shortly after giving birth to my son, I was a young mom and unsure of what path I wanted to take, I knew I needed to do something and decided to try cosmetology school. At the time, I had no idea how much I was going to fall in love with the industry it’s a true passion. From there, I started working at a branded salon learning as much as I could and continuing my education. I worked on the floor until A few years ago when we got the opportunity to move to Orlando, I decided to go a similar route with a branded salon while trying to balance raising my family until the pandemic hit. At that time, I took a step back and a good look at what I wanted in my future career with full intention of embracing change and what feels like just the beginning of my career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, although I’m not sure that any roads are smooth when trying to grow a career and family at the same time and for me that has been my most challenging balance. I love to work, I’m ready to grow, and I love this industry, but being in the hair industry also comes with a lot of challenges. You constantly have to be the student, you have to put in the work and time to grow and develop your skills, each salon is going to come with its own change in clientele and your skills will be tested with each move you make, just when you think you’ve finally figured it out something will change and you’ll need to adapt and learn again. That’s the beauty of it though constant change and never being bored 🙂
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in lived-in color, blondes, and brunettes, makeover haircuts and special occasion styling. I love a good blunt bob. I would say I’m most proud of having a career in which I service others, watching someone’s day be made by sitting in my chair is the best feeling ever. I’m constantly researching how to elevate my service and provide better for each guest. Continuing to grow myself and career is something I feel sets me apart.
What matters most to you?
Man that’s a tough one. I feel I’m obligated to say my four kids 😉 they have truly been the ones that motivate me to never give up, everything I’ve ever done and will do will be for them. I know that no matter what, I have to continue to push myself to show them they can be whoever they want in this crazy beautiful world.
