Today we’d like to introduce you to Shemeka McNair.
Hi Shemeka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a proud native of Magee, Mississippi. I am an U. S. Army Combat veteran, I served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. I delved off into ministry a little more than a decade ago during which I officially accepted my spiritual calling when I was first ordained in 2009. My kingdom-based contributions are such that I have become a fixture for ministering and serving in a variety of facets throughout Christian based organizations. Aside from my presence in ministry, I am a crafty actress who studied filmmaking and acting for film at the historic New York Film Academy in Hollywood, California. I have written, directed, and performed in my stage play production entitled, “It’s Well Worth The Wait.” In 2017, I self-published my first written work entitled, “Impatiently Waiting.” I followed that up with my sophomore written document entitled, “Behind the Scenes Of Success,” which was released in December 2017. My third book, “On The Road To Recovery,” in which I dedicated exclusively to veterans, particularly those who are battling PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Besides having emerged as a gifted author, I have written, directed, and produced short films entitled, “Team Single: May The Best Man Win” and “Any Change?”
In my spare time I serve as a community activist for Nuevo Sendero Incorporated, a community-based organization whose strategic mission includes — but isn’t limited to — helping women who are victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. In addition, I serve with Jesus The Light of Light Outreach, Inc., a Christian-based organization that is committed to helping women and children in need in the Central Florida area, as well as focusing on meeting the needs of women and children abroad in places such as the Dominican Republic and Brazil.
I plan to focus more on my organization “Women of the Hour” — which has since been renamed and currently in the redevelopment stages so that I can help more people. Over the years I have been able to extend a wide range of support and resources to men and women, particularly as it relates to self-development, grief, spirituality, relationships, marriage, and family.
All of that led to the birth of my brand Coach Mei LLC where I provide inspiration, skills, and strategies to help individuals endure and overcome difficulties in their lives, relationships, and careers. As a stem to my brand I launched The Motivation Boutique which is a collection of Motivational Apparel, Home decor, Canvas, Candles, Perfumes and Beauty care. I wanted to offer to others what I once needed. I wondered how many people felt like me. How many people out there just needed a push, some type of inspiration or a little motivation, someone to empower them when they could not do it for themselves. I became what I needed and decided to share it with the world. I became Motivation, I became Empowerment and I became Inspiration. Outside of empowering my clients, I decided to offer a collection that will exemplify my message. I created products they can wear, take into their homes and even gift to others. My soy candles are truly unique and not only in their scents but also in their physical appearance. My handmade candles are carefully crafted with various fresh flower petals and natural soy wax. Packaged in a yellow gold container, this candle adds a unique presence to any room in your residence or to a desk or shelf in an office space.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If there is a dreamer reading this I would say to you, daring to step out and fulfill your dream is not for the weak. This has not been easy. There are times where you will question taking that huge leap of faith. You will question yourself at times. You will wonder did I make the right decision and I am here to tell you, yes, you made the right decision. Keep going. It was a challenge and it still can be challenging to remain consistent when times become hard. It becomes hard to keep faith when your obstacles seem to be immovable and unchanging. We all would love to have constant support and understanding but that will not always be available to you. You will start out with people you probably will not finish with but that is okay. You have to learn how to believe in yourself, cheer for yourself, push yourself, motivate and encourage yourself. You will have to learn to become your own rescue.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I am a woman of many hats. Most people only see my big personality on social media. They only see me in action. There are not many who see me without the hats. In my personal time I enjoy reading books, I have this weird habit of reading 3 different books at a time. They are all different types of books to keep me engaged and motivated to finish them. I am a Susie homemaker. In other words I am crafty, I am skilled at sewing, crochet, and knitting. I love cooking plant based meals. I enjoy cooking for others. I have not cooked for anyone in a while but I enjoy it. Laugh Out Loud. I am also very handy. I am very mechanically inclined. I can actually repair Heavy Equipment such as Construction Equipment. Yikes. Like I can literally stand in a gown on the red carpet and I can also put on coveralls and replace the engine in your car. That is hilarious to me. I use that skill in my coaching as well, being able to troubleshoot and fix problems is my gift.
