Today we’d like to introduce you to Mahaila Jade.
Hi Mahaila, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs in Australia and so I spent a lot of time working in our family business ventures. I did my degree in Fashion and Business and as a young child growing up, I had a love for creating amazing designer looks. I love how you can make a person even more beautiful with the right clothes and accessories. Everyone is beautiful and it is amazing how you can accentuate your beauty through the right fashion. I would dress my friends and family all the time growing up. I loved the looks on their faces when they could see how sexy and beautiful they were. Our bodies go through changes at different stages in our life and we need a little help adjusting to those changes and we can still dress and feel sexy and beautiful. When I finished school, my mom asked me what my passion was and I knew it was fashion and so with the support of my family, I pursued my dreams. Here I am now with my own fashion design business and I am doing what I love and I am helping women feel sexier and more beautiful. This is what makes my heart happy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As in all business ventures, the startup was a matter of trial and error with lots of lessons learnt. Business is always an evolution and a work in progress and that is how you perfect your business model, practices and product. I have celebrated many successes and learnt from many failures. My failures were important because it gave me opportunities to learn and grow. I embraced my many failures but it was also an important path to the many successes I have had. There have been many times when I have had a ‘woe is me’ moment but with my family’s support, they just picked me up and kept me moving forward.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
There is always risk in very business venture and if you don’t take the risk like in anything in life, you won’t know if it is possible or achievable. Frederick Wilcox said, “Progress always involves risks. You can’t steal second base and keep your foot on first.” I am an optimistic risk-taker and I will always look at failure as an opportunity to learn. When an entrepreneur acquires the willingness to try out new ideas, they gear themselves towards business growth………….“nothing ventured, nothing gained.” Entrepreneurs see risk as a cost of opportunity and innovation.
