Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben and Ang Gable.
Hi Ben and Ang, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We started out as high school sweethearts. We married young, had our beautiful family, and built a life. Sadly some of life’s painful moments caused us to go our separate paths for a few years. While we were wonderful co-parents and still close friends, we had so much to figure out. And then 2020 arrived. Through all of the heartache going on in the world, we found our way back to each other and got married again! We needed a project that we could work on together. We created a Youtube channel, Build An Adventure, because we love both travel and DIY. It’s been our biggest project to date! We document our van builds, our Trail Manor camper renovation, our road trips, and hopefully our international trips in the future! We love nature and we love exploring the outdoors with our two wonderful kids.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been difficult! We are learning how time-consuming it is to build a brand from scratch. However, we are enjoying the process! While we do travel quite a bit, we also know the beauty of exploring our own town in our free time. Some of our favorite videos have been made right here, where we can highlight local restaurants and other small businesses. The local business owners have been so kind, letting us film in their shops and giving us advice on how to work for ourselves during uncertain times. So as difficult as it’s been, our community has gone above and beyond to make us feel supported.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Ben is a certified welder by day. He specializes in repairing fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. Ang worked at a local preschool and has her B.A. in Psychology, however she quit working at the school in March of 2020 to be with the kids when their school switched to remote learning. Ang loves to write and started a website to document travels, builds, and growing a brand. Neither Ang nor Ben had much experience in videography before Build An Adventure was born, but both have been thrilled to learn it. We’d say our specialty is our resilience! We’ve had so many setbacks this year, from a broken van to a leaky camper to dwindling funds. However, we’ve learned from every single setback, and they have shown us how strong we can be.
