Today we’d like to introduce you to James Macey.
Hi James, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion has always been for the game of basketball. Being around the sport and playing is my happy place. I wanted to be centered around the sport as much as possible. On July 19th, 2019 I decided to launch NoLimitJumper. The overall message behind the website is to give others a voice. Growing up, my voice was never heard no matter how loud my actions were. Letting writers and our guests speak through an authentic lenses is something I wanted to bring to life. I never thought NLJ would be what it is today as we are going on three years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggling to make ends meet, I remember launching the website and I spent my last $200 trying to make it happen. Mind you, I have a daughter and have been graduated from college for barely a month so it was a stressful time. Luckily I had all the support from my girlfriend to make this dream possible.
Throughout the first year, it was tough trying to recruit members and when the pandemic hit, I lost all my staff and had to rebuild my team from scratch just a year after launching.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an owner, I feel most proud of connecting with my writers and staff on a more personable level. Creating that balance between friend and owner is something I lived by throughout my college career and life.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The one thing that sticks out the most to me is Honesty. Being able to be your true authentic self no matter the circumstances shows tremendous character.
