Today we’d like to introduce you to Salomon Alcidor.
Hi Salomon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was younger, my dad had a recorder that took vhs tapes. I didn’t know what it was, but at the time, it sparked something in me because I used to see that as the coolest thing in the world and I wondered what could I do to play with something similar.
As I got a little older, my mom had a camcorder and anytime our church would have special events, she would have me record. And every time we had any family events, I was also the designated photographer. This helped jumpstart me in the world of Digital Media.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can’t necessarily say the road has been a difficult one. I’ve always been extremely patient and diligent with my work, but I have had my share of mishaps. For example, I’ve had my camera dropped a few times from my camera bag not being fully closed during transport and during one of my earlier shoots, my memory card got corrupted during the import process, so I lost half of the photos. At times the focus might take a dip, but there are always ways of finding new inspiration that pushed me to want to do better.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a photographer, my focus has mainly been oriented around individuals and families. I love shooting outdoors because to me, there’s a larger sense of freedom and you also have more variable to account for, so it’s also a little challenging.
My proudest moments always come whenever a client reviews their photos and are taken back because what they see comes out much better than what they envisioned.
One thing that sets me apart from others is how personable I am. No matter the attitude that’s brought in, you will always leave with a smile and a higher level of confidence than when you walked in.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was very quiet, shy and observant. I wasn’t the type to really ruffle any feather, but I was also extremely curious to a fault. Allegedly, as a child, my curiosity would often get me in trouble because I always wanted to know how things worked, but that would lead to more things breaking.
