Daily Inspiration: Meet Samantha and Rodolfo Feliz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meet Samantha and Rodolfo Feliz.

Hi Samantha and Rodolfo, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up together, my husband and I always spoke about having our own business but didn’t make it become a reality until 2019 when PF Social was born. Prior to the creation of our consulting business, we each went on separate paths in different industries mastering our craft, me as a social media manager and him as a business and ecommerce expert. As years passed, we finally combined ideas and realized we could help a lot of people by creating PF Social.

When we created PF Social, we immediately thought it would be a challenge. Not only were we young, we also had two children to provide for so we knew that it was going to be an interesting journey working full-time jobs, being full-time parents, and managing a full-time business. But we did it! We started off reaching out to local businesses, pretty much sending out emails to every local business in our area, creating accounts on every freelance website you could think of, and promoting ourselves on social media. It was absolutely exhausting, and we came very close to just giving up.

But after a few months of pushing forward, reaching out to businesses, sending proposals, and offering our services, we received our first job! It was a one-time client looking for a few Facebook posts to promote their business and it was only for $100. We took it and were completely thrilled. While it may not seem like a lot, it was a start. We were doing well, getting small jobs here and there, and then the pandemic hit. That was probably the hardest time for us. Businesses were closing, no one wanted or had the money to spend on things like social media. Again, we almost gave up. And then out of nowhere, a lovely entrepreneur from Atlanta reached out and needed help to bring attention to her business again after being hit pretty hard by the pandemic.

We jumped at the opportunity and from then on, we began helping small businesses, start-up companies, and entrepreneurs boost their businesses using the power of social media. It was a dream come true and now we are happy to say we have a fully running social media consulting business that offers social media management and coaching, teaching entrepreneurs and small businesses how to be their own social media managers to save money while getting results.

Our tagline is “Trust the Process” because everything worth having is worth waiting for. We trusted the process of growing our business and we help others trust the process of using social media to flourish online.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing is easy so we expected challenges and obstacles and the first obstacle was getting started. It took months before we received a response from someone and it was a small job but it was a start.

The second obstacle was the pandemic. We were slowly gaining traction in our business when the pandemic hit and then things went radio silent as businesses were closing and no one was interested in spending money on social media. Surprisingly though, this was not the biggest challenge. The biggest challenge for us was actually balance. Once we gained momentum in our business, we then had to find a good balance between working full time in our day jobs, being full-time entrepreneurs, being full-time parents, and then somewhere in there squeezing in everything else!

That took us the longest to figure out and was almost our tipping point to giving up but we figured it out. We didn’t sleep much and didn’t get to have much “me time” but it was all worth it because now things are running smoothly for us.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I like to consider myself an “unconventional” social media expert and I say this because my biggest goal is to teach people how to use social media on their own so they can save money for their businesses by not having to hire someone to do it for them (at least in the beginning stages of growth). You see, I have a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology because I’ve always been fascinated with how people learn, why we learn differently, how we retain information, etc. And I’ve learned that with my degree and experience in digital marketing, I can better understand the audience, the clients, and their needs and use that to formulate a plan that will lead them to success but why should I keep this information to myself when so many people can benefit from it? This is what I am most proud of; that I can use my education to help others which is what I’ve always wanted.

On the other hand, my husband has a passion for business and loves to work with other entrepreneurs who are trying to make an impact in their communities. Growing up, people always told him that he could “sell anything to anyone” because of his personality and as he grew older and more experienced, he realized that it wasn’t that he was a good “salesman”, it was because he is very analytical. If he is faced with a problem in a business, he breaks it down, evaluates, and then builds a solution from the ground up, no matter what the challenge is. We are excited to say that we are now combining our experiences and knowledge to create a 6 week program that is dedicated to teaching entrepreneurs and small businesses how to be their own social media managers. On top of the program, we are also putting the final touches on an exclusive membership that people can sign up for to join monthly live training sessions, continuous support, and “social media secrets” that can help them be successful online. We can’t wait for the official launch and to help as many people as we can.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The social media industry practically changes daily. What is trending last week is a thing of the past this week and I think as people continue to embrace this digital era, it will continue to evolve and grow, especially for businesses (both small and large).
