Today we’d like to introduce you to Londun Allen.
Hi Londun, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am the co-owner of HyperFem Fashion & Wellness and a freelance Stylist as well as a production assistant.
HyperFem is a fashion & wellness lifestyle brand that was inspired by the visions of two sisters with two distinct personalities, one bold and edgy (hype) and the other girly and feminine (fem). The HyperFem woman is a multifaceted woman who is equal parts bold, sexy, demure, feminine and edgy. She is smart, sophisticated, confident, and engaged in her community.
HyperFem is not just about fashion but represents a movement. We seek to empower women through fashion, beauty and wellness by taking them through an exploratory journey of themselves that will lead them to the powers and discoveries that lie from loving themselves from the inside out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
HyperFem was born in 2016 and believed me when I say we went through many ups and downs along the way. Starting a business with anyone is going to be tough but, working with my sister has been a true blessing. It’s easy to bounce ideas off of each other and make business decisions. The hardest part to learn thus far is proper marketing, learning your target audience and finally solidifying packaging once we decided to introduce wellness products into our brand. Remember that your family & friends aren’t your audience and the lack of support can definitely get to you. Having a solid team that sees and understands your vision is hard to come by when you’re starting out. However, you can’t let any of that stop you while you’re trying to build an empire.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I pride myself with the many hats I have worn in the industry. I have a background in customer service, fashion retail, fashion merchanding, styling, costume design, fashion & event production and more.
I also have a corporate background in which I believe serves me well with dealing with many different people and situations.
Other than watching HyperFem grow into the business it is today and having our products in store, I am the most proud of my growth as a stylist. I’ve come from dressing models at LAFW to doing wardrobe for commercials & movies.
I love expression through fashion. I can be feeling punk rock one day and 70s hippie chic the next. I love meeting and working with new people because it gives you the chance to learn so much about others and from others.
As long as you’re willing to learn and take risks, you’ll never stop growing.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Like most people, my family!
My immediate family are my rocks, my heart, my everything. My mother, My sister Fatima (who is also my business partner- HyperFem Co-Owner) and her two children Azaya & Lance means the absolute world to me.
I’m super proud of my little sister Parris who owns her own lash business. (Perfection By Parris) and her daughter, my niece Paige, her smile just brightens my life! I also have two younger twin siblings, Mia & Maya who I couldn’t be more proud of with all of their many accomplishments.
I can’t wait to buy my mother a house and take her on vacation every month! (Yes, I love to go on vacation and I mean every month. Lol)
The reasons I work so hard are for the people above. I want my family to be able to live the rest of our days without a care in the world. I truly believe my sister Fatima and I are here the breaks a few generational curses and take our family to the next level. I want my family to be able to experience financial freedom. That drives me. That keeps me going.
