Check Out Ioul Brown’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ioul Brown.

Hi Ioul, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Photography is something that has always been in my life long before I knew I would become a photographer and the importance it would have in my life. Growing up, I was always intrigued by cameras and had a special affinity for them, from polaroids to film, I just loved the magic that they possessed. To be able to freeze motion, capture a moment, and see the way a person’s eyes would illuminate when they saw their photograph was everything I wanted to experience and be able to create. Somehow I was always blessed to be able to have a camera whether by purchase or gifted by a friend or family member. I decided to take photography seriously when I realized that there was a voice within that would always remind me of my love for the art. Now it is an internal fire that is burning constantly that has become a passion that I truly love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, I must say that it was not easy at all, but that’s with everything in life that requires effort and determination. Everything from learning about cameras, lighting, the different style of photography, the countless hours of watching tutorials and reading books after books on editing, to working and saving up to purchase gear has really been a testing process filled with ups and downs… but the rewards of sticking to it and remaining focused and disciplined are greater than the process itself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I treat my craft like art and put my all into it. I am a portrait photographer mostly, though I plan on doing wildlife and landscape photography a lot more in the future. I can say that I am mostly known for being able to capture the natural essence of my subjects and being easy to work with. I am proud of my ability to remain teachable and constantly seeking for new ways to elevate my craft. Being a natural introvert, I would have to say that photography has spiritual aspect that resonates with me and allows me to connect with my subjects on a deeper level. It’s not easy to put into words but I love being able to feel the energy of my subjects go from tense to relaxed as the shoots progress. I look forward to trying my best in telling a story with each shoot and I think that is what sets me apart, along with my passion for photography.

How do you think about happiness?
Life makes me happy! not just the everyday wake up and exist, but the ability to have the power to affect someone’s life in a positive way and doing just that gives me so much pleasure. We are all here on this plane for a purpose and being able to come closer to that purpose with each day we are given is not only humbling but enriching as well.
