Conversations with Heriana and Dariana Cedeno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heriana and Dariana Cedeno.

Hi Heriana and Dariana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m 14 years old. My mom is Dariana Cedeno. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we started to make Clay Earrings as a hobby. We didn’t plan on selling them, but when began to wear them, others started asking if we were selling them. Then Me and Mom Boutique was born! This business not only helps us bring money into our home, it helps us meet such amazing people we never knew in our community and lets us bring joy into the lives of others. By the grace of God, we now have our earrings in small business stores all over Florida. We cannot grow without the support of our family, friends and community! Thank you and God bless.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. Struggles that we faced were because I (Heriana Cedeno) have been a full-time student and sometimes we get swarmed with orders and I feel pressured to make them perfect for my client because as a student, I have the commitment to have good grades and complete my work at school and at the same time me and my mom like to be on time with our orders and clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Me and my mom hand make Clay Earrings. I am a full-time student and my mom is a small business owner. We are known for our unique design in clay earrings. We are most proud of the accomplishments we have made and the support from our family, friends and community. We are a Christian mother daughter based small business.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
We would tell them to just keep going. There will be many obstacles you will face but don’t let them tear you down because you have set goals that take you places you never imagined of. I wish we would have knew to support local/small businesses more.
