Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristabelth Morillo.
Hi Cristabelth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, I’m delighted to be a part of this series. Thank you for the opportunity.
My story began when I was a teenager back in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where I am from. I remember decorating my birthday party by myself and my mother teaching me how to make crafts.
When I graduated high school, I decided to study accounting, although my Dad understood it wasn’t the career for me. He always said my interests were cutting and pasting, and arts and crafts.
I thought that accounting would help me earn more money and meet my life goals.
At that time, the party planner business was not popular and I had no idea about how to run this type of trade.
I kept on doing small things during college. I used to make and sell hair bows of different colors, and people loved them.
It was in 2013 that I officially organized and decorated my first birthday party. It was Frozen themed for my little sister. The movie had just been released and there were no props for parties, so I got creative and made them myself.
From that day on, all my friends and family wanted me to decorate their children’s parties.
After 10 years of reluctantly working in accounting, I finally decided to started over and created my own event decoration business. That’s how Cris Morillo Party Planner was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Everything in life requires effort, and brings challenges in a way in which we must face.
For me, it has not been an easy path, entering the industry, making myself known, getting customers, thinking “I am not good enough”… There are days that I am strong and feel I can do everything, and there are others that I don’t. But in all this, the grace of God is sufficient and every day I am a winner of battles.
It has been a long road of learning, falling, and getting up. I love what I do, I am passionate about being part of that special moment for families. Being able to celebrate a birthday means spending quality time with family and friends. It is the perfect excuse of being all together, and why not, make that day magical, full of color, and creativity. This is where we come in, we are that creative part that your parties need.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are party planner and decor. We help people organize their parties, offering an all-inclusive service: cake, desserts table, animation, decoration, photographer, makeup artist, catering, personalized details, balloons, and everything the client needs to make their party something magical and without stress. We take care of everything, we are their allies. The client only needs to arrive at the party as a guest and enjoy.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
This is not a competition, everyone has their gifts and talents. Everyone has their own way of doing things. Everyone’s goals are different so enjoy the road and avoid frustrations.
