Hi Jenny and Mary, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Higher Calling Papers started as an idea in 2017 to make smoking more beautiful. We wanted to offer a rolling paper that could be customized for birthdays, anniversaries, anything anyone can image. So we began buying different printers, different papers, different ink and printing, printing. After many ups and downs, trial and error, a million tears, and three years in development we had finally figured it out. So, two Best Friends, Jenny & Mary (MaryJen lol) set out to share with the world our unique product, completely customizable with the best quality smoking experience.

The Deets
Higher Calling Papers goal is to bring artwork, color and vibrancy to a quality rolling paper. The soul of the company lies in the art and personalizing packs for our customers with memories, photos and messages, with no minimum orders denied. This allowed us to bring beautiful papers to the average consumer all while keeping our footprint as small as possible. We wanted to make sure that we created something that would be as naturally harmonious as we could. Our rolling papers are 100% Organic Hemp and are printed with FDA Approved Food Grade Soy Ink. Our covers come wrapped in hemp wick, which is meant to be used to light the papers and prevent butane inhalation. The covers are made from a natural cotton fiber seed paper. The cotton fiber gives the covers a luxurious feel and every effort to conserve water and resources is taken in making these covers. There are no chemicals or other agents added to ensure that they are as environmentally friendly as possible.
The Give Back
Once you have finished enjoying your rolling papers then comes the give back. Once you have finished enjoying your papers, you can plant the cover and wildflowers grow, making our entire product tree-free and zero waste. Spread the beauty and plant the cover. The covers nourish the soil and clean the air as the seeds turn to sprouts and become wildflowers.
The Future
Our aspirations for the future are to become the number one custom rolling paper company in the world. We hope to inspire women and minorities to be entrepreneurs. We want to be another example that your dreams are achievable and never too farfetched for the imagination. We would like to become a voice for change in legislature regarding what legal herbs can be consumed in our papers but, above all we would like to continue to give back to the communities that we hold dear to our hearts, the spiritual souls, the artists, the smokers, and the midnight tokers.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been smooth sailing to get where we are. I can’t count on both hands how many printers we bought, engineers we contacted, ink we changed, and papers we tried out. Some were too thin, some ink was too thick and the right printed was essential. Since the papers are so thin they would tear going through the printers. We could find a printer that could print on such a small area. It was a challenge for sure.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets us apart is the ability to print custom papers. If your best friend’s birthday is coming you can surprise her with papers printed with your greatest memories. We’ve printed R.I.P. papers for friends to light one in honor of their loved ones. We’ve even printed some risky anniversary papers. We print our business cards on paper and are reinventing the way we talk business.
What we’re most proud of is this amazing community that has embraced us and our company with such open arms. It is truly the love, support and praise that we receive from them that has kept us moving forward.
What are your plans for the future?
We have so many aspirations for the future. We would love to collaborate with some of the legends in smoking to create their own lines with their images for fans, hold an industry fashion show with matching papers, and have a booth at Champs Tradeshow. These are a few goals that we have set out for ourselves to accomplish hopefully this coming year but beyond that, we would just like to work hard without being miserable. We are both mothers and would love to show our kids the world and make their dreams come true.
