Meet Anjali Pati of Kashaya Probiotics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anjali Pati

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had an innate desire to heal the world and humanity in some shape or form in my life, and growing up I wasn’t quite sure how it would transpire. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Science and believed it would foster my relationship with the ocean and subsequently work on healing marine life. As life always brings us to new paths and directions, after completing my Bachelors I decided to attend the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon and enrolled in Naturopathic Medical School. In this time and space, I started to explore and deepen my relationship with non-dairy foods, yogurts, and milk in particular. I started to realize how much we lacked the ability to use “food as medicine”, and I know it’s so cliche, but what I started to understand is that we had lost so much of our understanding of utilizing food and nutrition in place of taking herbal supplements, minerals, and even probiotics. Needless to say, I didn’t end up completing my degree entirely and went on to focus on finishing my Master’s Degree in Global Health, since I knew I wanted to work with maternal health/women and children to some degree and I wanted to launch Kashaya, a superfood probiotic that would have such a high- living CFU count that it would be strong enough to shift any damaged microbiome or gut environment. I experimented for over a year with the recipe. It needed to be strong enough to create a therapeutic impact in everyone who consistently took it, and tasty enough to mix with our meals. Organic, and NON-GMO, of course. I brought the finalized recipe from Portland, Oregon to Orlando, Florida where my mother lived, and began to create a home base for what would grow into Kashaya Probiotics. We now have hundreds of customers who repetitively order from us each month and several stores and juice-bar locations that carry us and share us with their customer base. We are so grateful to be surrounded by so much support and love in Orlando and are so excited to continue to grow.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh, definitely not! We launched in the “vegan” space and it was the wrong audience and failed to grow for several years. Finally, in 2019 I started to bring launch different growth strategies that began to work this year, in 2020. COVID-19 has also been very difficult to navigate as we lost almost all of our wholesale accounts for a while in the middle. I had to switch my focus 360 degrees to survive that!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Kashaya Probiotics utilizes 13-diverse human-inherent strains of living and activated bacteria fermented in a liquid organic coconut milk as a pre-biotic base. Our product line consists of two primary products, the Original, and Therapeutic. The Therapeutic blend of was designed to address gut dysbiosis and total intestinal inflammation and contains 960 Billion Living CFU counts per serving. The original blend of kashaya probiotics contains 320 Billion Living CFU counts per serving and is primarily for daily supplementation for babies, children, and adults. We usually recommend the original blend for maintenance, and not to address any particular gastro-intestinal condition or disease. As a business owner, I also see clients separately through a 90-Day Gut Re-Boot program and offer this service intermittently to clients. The program is best for any person of any age who is committed to helping their body rid itself of leaky gut, digestive disturbances and is truly seeking optimal functioning of the gastrointestinal system and microbiome. I am honestly most proud of our packaging and being eco-friendly. We truly try our best to use glass in place of plastic and all recyclable/re-usable materials in our shipping process and packaging.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes! Turning to your community and surrounding friends and family is so crucial for any business, especially in times of crisis.
