Daily Inspiration: Meet Vanessa Pickett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Pickett.

Hi Vanessa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I never imagined myself becoming a graphic designer. My siblings have always been into graphic and video design. I’ve always been intrigued by seeing them work but never actually thought about becoming one. It wasn’t until I needed to create an invitation for my 2nd baby shower a few years back. For some reason, I wanted to design the invitation on my own. While designing the invitation, I realized how much I really have a eye on how a great design should look (from my perspective of course). I was just overall fascinated by what I just created and I received so much great feedback from friends and family. So from that point forward, I decided to start my own business creating graphic design.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. I would say the one struggle I had was when I first stepped into the role of becoming a graphic designer. I was a little discouraged seeing how many other great graphic designers that were already out there shining, the experience and big following they had some days made me want to give up. But with my determination, faith and strength, I pushed through and assured myself I have to strategically market my business to receive the desired results I was looking for.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
NVmee Designz provides branding and graphic design services. Services include but are not limited to: Logos, Flyers, invitations, Social media content, thank you cards, product label designs, posters, marketing, sticker designs, materials, branding board, business cards, pre-made digital designs and more. I’m really proud of all of my work. I’ve come along way. Lol. What sets me apart from others is my affordable pricing, fast turnaround times, and friendly, great customer service.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I read a lot of financial literacy books, I utilize my calendar/scheduling app to keep my business and personal life in line. It allows me to stay on schedule, track my orders and make sure I meet deadlines.

I also watch tons of YouTube videos and take online courses to further enhance my skills.
