Meet Brett Snider of SparrowHawk Engraving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett Snider.

Hi Brett, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My employer was working with an engraver who managed to damage a large order. This scared the engraver into never wanting to work with us again for fear of damaging future jobs. We were unable to find another engraver in a timely fashion, so I started a side engraving business to fill that void. My employer became my first client. I am in the process now of moving my business down to Brevard County, FL. I hope to be up and running later this year.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been rarely smooth. Startup capital was probably the biggest hurdle, followed by finding business. Word of mouth seems to be the best avenue for generating business right now.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SparrowHawk Engraving LLC?
With our current machines, we are able to engrave all types of metal and heavy polymers. Our engraving window is about 4” by 4”. We have another machine which allows us to engrave organic material, such as wood, bamboo, leather, etc. We are limited however to the size of the items that fit in this machine. We do all sorts of engravings from cutting boards to firearms. We do have our Federal Firearms License and Special Occupational Tax License. We can engrave your firearm, and we can buy, sell and trade firearms.

We are very honest with our clients. Our prices are low and our turnaround times are fast!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
There is no shortcut to success. You need to put in the work.
