Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Rodriguez.
Hi Nicholas, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a hard-working guy who is extremely goal-driven! I’ve spent most of my adult life chasing the dream of being a professional racer driver and I have gotten closer and closer to that goal every year! I started off buying and selling drift cars trying to pick one that I liked until I got my E36 coupe, I changed the motor to an LS, I put a cage in the car, I pushed myself more and more in that car. That was the first car I had ever changed a motor in and I moved on to the BMW E36 convertible that everyone knows through the show getaway driver. This is the first car that I had ever completely stripped all the way down to the frame and rebuilt from the bottom up taking the knowledge from my first build and made this beast. I learn more and more with every build and I keep pushing more and more! Now I am looking forward to 2022 running another full season of competition with a teammate and full crew! We are always looking for sponsors to help grow our career and to help build their businesses!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
NO! Smooth is not even remotely close to the term that I would use for the path here. But then again, anything extraordinary never is easy! This lifestyle is hard on relationships, it’s hard on your sleep schedule, and it’s very hard financially! You have to work full time to pay bills and racing, worth full time after working full time to make sure you keep your car prepped and ready for the next race, and you need to work even more to try and record it all, edit it all, and post it all to keep sponsors happy and keep growing! But it will all be worth it one day!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am in transition from working as a manager at a junkyard (Branif Used Auto Parts) which I love, to being a content creator/racecar driver. I am still in transition so I am very nervous but everything will workout as it should! That being said, PLEASE follow me @drift_rod on Instagram and Drift Rod on Youtube! If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Drive is by far the most important thing that has lead me to where I am today! It’s not how many times I get hit and fall down, I WILL get back up and find another way. I will keep pushing until I have achieved my goal!
