Today we’d like to introduce you to Keyen Lopez.
Hi Keyen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is full of ups and downs but let me start for the beginning. I am coming from Venezuela, a country that is on the news every day, usually because of bad things, but sometimes we do okay. In 1999, I was the founder of a boyband, yes, like N’sync or Backstreet Boys, was my third attempt after 2 other bands) this boyband was ridiculously famous in Venezuela and in other Spanish countries, we made 4 studio albums, we travel and perform a lot, we won awards and so on, the band lasted till 2011.
In the year 2001, a started to develop a teaching method about how to be the best artist you can be and I was part of tv shows as a coach, my team won a couple of years I was doing this. I was also a jury in a couple so shows, I was a writer in newspapers in the “opinion section” and in the show business section, in general, I was doing ok, many famous artists were my students, I travel with music business-related jobs and I well knew, not only as a singer but as a producer, creative consulter and as a public figure, etc., I made my first solo album called Ensayo y error.
But suddenly the government of my country was killing the people and me, as a public figure was supporting the opposition, my wife and I with an 8 months baby girl name Sophia have to run away because I was with the leaders of the good side of history, I was singing the national anthem and making personal appearances in a time when nobody was risking his life that way. We came here to the united states and, as a foreigner, we have to start from scratch. After being famous for many years, new beginnings can be rough, however, always with a lot of responsibility and courage, I worked in many things, construction, cleaning, cooking, as a server, selling in a kiosk, driving with uber, delivering food, boxes, you name it.
Then my wife has health problems, I was in a car accident, my father get cancer and died and my life, suddenly was crazy chaos. Then I broke up… But instead of crying and feeling defeated, I reinvented myself, change my body and create a sports and nutrition company by myself, it’s called nun, and I create the best whey protein on the market, the formula is mine, I made a music video of my first English song called FURY and I writing a book about how to overcome adversity, I’m developing an app to teach babies and kids to have perfect pitch, the Boyband reunites on September 4 of 2021 to make a final concert via streaming and was called Capitulo final (final chapter) to give closure to our story and now I am recording again and make a presence on SoCal media, I reunite the band I have before the other boyband (vox harmony) we do a Capella stuff.
My music workshop was recorded on video and is going to teach platforms My brand NUN @nunbrand keeps going looking to establish as the only PREMIUM whey protein and is going to other countries as well. And most of all I am grateful for the opportunity of being healthy to watch 2 daughters Sophia and Miranda grow in a better environment alongside my wife, Vanessa. I feel loved and respected by my community even if I have ups and downs, always with a lot of projects in mind. I keep doing uber and grub hub alongside all these projects, the corona crisis hit us hard and my wife lost her job because of delays with the work permit, but as the name of my book is called, I always said DON’T KILL THE FURY.
I invite you all to check my music on Spotify and all the platforms, my name is Keyen, Keyen Lopez, the Boyband I was telling you about is called A. Cinco. I hope this story reminds all the people that we never have to surrender, keep our head up, and fight. Because there is only one life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Wow so many, first of all, health problems, there is a language difference, move from different countries, family passing away and again, understand a new system and a new culture.
The hardest part? start again from scratch.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the first and only R&B singer of Venezuela, I was part of the most successful boyband in that country, which makes me very proud, I am a vocal specialist who develops his own singing method and helps others to become their best version.
I am a writer, author, and everything I wrote early.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would like to help others with the same situation to overcome hard times, I invite you all to try my whey protein, to listen to my music and the most important thing. Don’t kill the fury, put your chin up and just get up.
Follow me to interact and become great together. Become a patron soon I will be adding a lot! Thanks.
