Check Out Jermaine Clentscale’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine Clentscale.

Hi Jermaine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
When COVID started I had a vision of me doing something greater. I figured out that my purpose was to create an organization that not only myself but other business minded people could benefit from. People everywhere we’re losing jobs due to COVID. So there were a lot of people starting their own businesses to survive . That’s also the same year George Floyd was killed and racism was at an all time high especially where I live. So I thought why not get a bunch of black owned small businesses together and give the world something positive to talk about when it came to African Americans in our community. That’s when I came up with the name “YBE, Young Black Entrepreneur” it was meant I be just a one event thing at first but the response I received from my community was greater than expected and I wanted to be able to keep bringing everyone together for safe and fun events. So I decided to make an LLC out of YBE and organize more events that brought business owners of all races together to not only give the community something to do but to also help those that are self employed to get their goods/services more exposure . Since then I’ve had 4 successful events in Brevard county and already have 2 planned for 2022. So that’s my mission, to help small business owners in my community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road but I am a firm believer in God so I choose to keep pushing and reaching for my greater. I’m a full time college student and I also work a 9-5 full time so it’s definitely not easy trying to balance running my own business and doing homework on top of other responsibilities, but it’s not impossible either. I’ve lost my job and had to put my car in the shop all at the same time while balancing everything but that doesn’t stop me because I know I will succeed . Maybe not immediately but absolutely and definitely!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
YBE is a marketing business. I want to be the one that helps promote all the hard work of small local businesses so that the business owners can spend more time with other things to run their business. I also host networking events that not only bring small business owners together but also create safe and fun events for the community. I wear many hats though. In Brevard county I’m known for cheerleading, I’ve been a competitive cheerleader for some time and I also coach and teach younger kids basic skills and techniques when it comes to tumbling . I sing on the praise and worship team at my church , The R.E.A.L Church of Brevard, on Sundays .
I’m most proud of my consistency. No matter what’s thrown my way I’m always that fun outgoing person that wants to make everyone laugh and I love being the one to encourage others to keep going no matter what. It makes me feel good.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m pretty much an open book.
