Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Rivera Trout.
Hi Gabrielle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our story starts in June 2019 when my husband and I quit our jobs to travel and explore deeper into the world and ourselves. We were recently married, and a yearlong backpacking trip was our dream honeymoon that we spent three years saving for. It was the biggest leap of faith either of us had ever made. We were full of excitement to see where the journey would take us.
We backpacked through Europe, The UAE, Africa, and Southeast Asia. It was indeed a life-changing experience for both of us. We had nothing but time to enjoy ourselves together and figure out what made us happy—traveling opened our eyes to a different experience of the world, one with endless possibilities. We started documenting our travels on Instagram, and before we knew it, we had grown a small community of adventure seekers and travel lovers. We continued to work on our content creation while taking on clients for graphic design here and there.
My husband Tyler was a Creative Director for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he quit, and I was a Project Manager for Citi. We believed that together we could create a business for ourselves that would allow us to continue to live passionately. Fast forward to today, we have officially started The Outsiders LLC, a creative design agency committed to bringing dreams to life through branding and digital marketing.
We are dreamers and risk-takers who believe that we are making the world a better place when living passionately. Our goal is to help other dreamers live their passions by creating brands and digital marketing that brings your full vision to life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say that it has been a rollercoaster! These past 2.5 years have brought our highest of highs and our lowest of lows. Before setting out on this journey, life was mostly a flat drive with some bumps here and there. Since choosing to venture out into the world, our path has been about climbing mountains, letting go of expectations, and learning to live in the present moment.
We have made so many mistakes, but we’ve found the strength to keep picking ourselves up again and again. We are learning that it’s not about the destination but about enjoying the journey to get there even when you fail because you will. We’ve struggled with this idea of thinking things need to happen immediately.
I’m not sure if that’s a societal aspect a lot of us face, but slowing down on projects and reevaluating what success means is something we are still working on. We come from corporate backgrounds where everything is fast-paced, and productivity is measured in the hours you spend at your desk.
We tend to go all-in with our projects, and we are learning that it’s more important to be happy because that’s when we create our best work anyways. I think slowing down in all aspects of work and life has been our biggest challenge. It’s not about how fast you get there but enjoying the ride because that’s when you see what you’re made of.
Life happens in the blink of an eye and living passionately, and happy is most important to us.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a creative design agency specializing in bringing brands and ideas to life.
We have two parts to our business, graphic design and content creation. Our graphic design is our bread and butter. Being able to help others live passionately through clean design and branding that tells a story is what brings us life. We are currently developing branding and design packages that will jump-start your business in 2 weeks.
We can create your entire brand identity, including logo suite, font suite, color palette, and website, so you can start living your dreams! We can also provide photography, videography, and social media content strategies for select clients. We can also create digital marketing advertising for current businesses that turn customers into repeat users.
The other part of our business is content creation, where we help companies with product promotion and creative campaigns. We provide our clients with a range of innovative photography services. We act as the Creative Director, models, and photographer to produce engaging content that increases Brand Awareness and ROI metrics.
What sets us apart is that we plant trees when you choose to work with us. We are the first individuals in Trees for the Future history to adopt our very own tree-planting project, helping to change lives in Busia, Uganda. At the end of our project, we will have planted 40,000 trees, and our long-term goal is to grow our business to plant 1 million trees all over the world.
We are firm believers that small acts have a big impact, and we believe that TREES can change the world! Having good marketing sets you apart in this digital world, and our goal is to bring new voices to life that want to make a difference.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’m actually looking for advice in this area myself! Being a new and inexperienced entrepreneur is hard and finding a network while traveling has been difficult for me. I wish I had more advice in this area but I am actually looking for this support in my journey as well.
