Daily Inspiration: Meet Miki Victorine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miki Victorine.

Hi Miki, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in May 2011. After attending University for two years and drowning in student loans, I decided to join the Air Force as a means to further my education. I initially entered the Air Force Reserves, but after returning home from technical training at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, I decided I wanted more. I contacted an active duty Air Force recruiter and a few months later I made the transition from a reservist to active duty.

Currently, I am the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge Force Management at the Military Personnel Office Andersen AFB Guam. But when I’m not there you will likely find me working on my bodybuilding and personal training careers. In 2013, a serious health issue caused me to evaluate my priorities. I learned that my body had certain dietary limitations and I used bodybuilding as a mechanism to overcome those limitations. Other personal and professional challenges presented themselves in 2014, and I was able to use my passion as a resilience tool to overcome those challenges.

After five months of intense training, on Sept. 27, 2014, I competed in my first bodybuilding show in Florida, the Ruby Championship where I placed 6th in Open Bikini Class A. This is where I fell in love with the sport of bodybuilding. Since then, I have competed in six more competitions consistently placing in the top four. On Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, 2018, I competed in my first international competition in Italy where I placed 4th in Open Bikini Class A.

Since then, I’ve competed in two more competitions for a total of seven since my journey began with my most recent being October 5, 2021, in Orlando, FL. This show is where I made my wellness debut being the first wellness athlete from my island paradise St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Currently, I’m in my improvement season to bring an undeniable physique in 2022.

My journey hasn’t been easy as new serious health concerns arose during my most recent prep for my competition in October. I refused to let it or anything stop me as bodybuilding saved my life back in 2014 and placed me on a path to help others achieve their health and wellness goals.

As I continue to train and compete I also take time to help other individuals struggling with health and fitness. In 2016, I obtained my Certified Personal Trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Since then I’ve obtained my Fitness Nutrition Specialization, Behavior Change Specialization & Virtual Coaching Specialization all through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

As I continue following my passion I have a short-term goal of being “The first International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Wellness professional from St. Thomas and a long-term goal of being the first Olympian those goals are not a matter of if but when. I am an active duty United States Air Force personnelist.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Serious health issues and some personal issues as well.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
