Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrisha Gibbs.
Hi Darrisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I grew interested in the new beauty technique arising as eyelash extensions during college as a hobby in 2015. In 2016, I took the leap of faith and invested in myself with a classic lash training course.
As a certified eyelash technician, I began to grow my business LuvMinks, LLC, network all over Orlando, FL, and surrounding areas. I attended UCF and worked full-time and would lash part-time around my school/work schedule, and on weekends and holidays, I would travel to Miami, FL, to service clients and family.
After months of dedication, I decided to invest in myself again and complete an intermediate lash course of volume eyelash extensions. Over the years, I have had the honor to share my entrepreneur secrets with other women, teaching them how to invest in themselves and learn a skill that could grow and last a lifetime.
I strongly believe growing your skills and knowledge is vital in any field, I grew to love brow artistry so I also became certified in eyebrow tinting. Today, I am continuing to enhance my skills and grow my business as Flaire Artistry.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A recent struggle has been regrowing my social platform as my initial Instagram was hacked with over 1.5k followers, I lost a lot of connections and memories.
Starting a business in Orlando, far away from my hometown of Miami, FL was a challenge, I had to double my networking skills, travel throughout the city and nearby areas, and meet new people to gain clientele. Lashing part-time while working full-time and attending college full-time was another challenge and once I graduated I was torn between the health and beauty world, debating which to devote myself to full-time.
I decided to continue them both as I love them dearly. Entrepreneurship will not be easy but the thought of being successful fuels me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an entrepreneur. I love to explore many different fields. I love beauty, makeup, nails, and hair. I am a 2x certified eyelash artist and I specialize in eyelash extensions: Classics, volume, and mega volume.
I love the idea of enhancing natural beauty for women and helping them find their inner confidence, mentally or physically. What sets me apart from others is my personality, I always provide an authentic experience in a comfortable environment that is often relatable to others.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to become an esthetician full-time and cater to all things natural. I look forward to creating a skincare line to educate others on the simplicity of natural ingredients that is beneficial to our daily needs.
I also plan to network around the U.S. and continue to learn and further my knowledge. I look forward to meeting new and more individuals and places.
