Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Ferrer.
Luis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For many years my passion was cars. Attending local car shows and car gatherings is all I did. I picked up a camera in the summer of 2017 to do Automotive photography. I had no idea what I was doing but knew I wanted to mix my passion for both Photography and Automotives. For a few months, I spent all of my free time on YouTube researching and watching tutorials to be a better photographer. At the beginning of 2018, I had a friend asked if I would be interested in taking some engagement/family pictures for him and his family, and of course, I said Yes. The session went way better than I expected, and I knew I was onto something.
By the summer of 2018, I gave up pursuing Automotive photography and transitioned into photographing models. After a few sessions, I knew that was not for me, LOL. I took a little break from photography as I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. At that time, the end of 2018, I reached out to a couple on Instagram and offered a free engagement shoot. They accepted and since then I have been photographing couples.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a lot of ups and downs. When I first started photography, I didn’t have any photography friends. I didn’t know anything about cameras. I reached out to many local photographers in the beginning and barely got any responses back or help. I contemplated giving up many times, but I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. My photography journey has all been a lot of trial and error. Doing what I think is best and learning from my mistakes.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a couples photographer who focuses on capturing love and intimate moments. The moment that is felt but often not seen. Capturing love in a raw, real, authentic way lights a fire for me. I love it!!!!! Being able to see my couples vulnerable with one other and telling their love story through beautiful imagery is what I am known for. What sets me apart from others is the experience from my sessions. Yes, we all can create beautiful pictures, but it’s more than that for me. My sessions are 100% authentic. No posing at all. I like to say my sessions are like a get together that includes good vibes, good conversation, and overall a good time. I strive to give an experience that my couples will never forget.
What does success mean to you?
Putting in the work to accomplish a dream/goal. Giving your all and overcoming all obstacles. That end result is success.
