Hi Beth, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a single mom working from home, I was desperate to find anything that could make my life easier. I was tired of earbuds falling out and talking on speaker while grocery shopping. Even my fancy car radio required that I yell towards my windshield as my child listened to every convo from her car seat.
After months of product research, I found my solution, and Smart Shadez was born! I’m a native Floridian and I am more likely to leave my house barefoot than without sunglasses. I have now found the perfect combination of necessity, function, and style. Stop looking down at a phone and enjoy life, not worrying if you are going to miss a call or text.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
More like a bumpy, off-road trail in the rain! I had to learn to “pivot” rather quickly. In the beginning, the biggest struggle was ordering samples of products. Most of them did not pass my requirements for quality and function.
I had to “fail-forward” a lot (a phrase one of my mentors taught me). I also had to learn how to market myself and ended up going back to college to get a certification in digital marketing. It was expensive and took 6 months, but definitely worth it!
Now, I have added Smart-social.net, a social media agency to my list of revenue streams.

I have a love for people and technology, which is where the name Smart with Heart came from. Under this company, I have Smart Shadez and Smart Social. I am known for having cutting-edge tech products that make your life easier and I want to add emotion to tech product marketing. You can wear Smart Shadez and finally put your phone away.
You can actually lift your head up and be able to watch your child play or take your dog to the park without the anxiety of missing a call or message. What is the point of technology if you can’t enjoy the moment you are living in?! I am proud to offer Smart Shadez in prescription as well. I work with a local optical, Empire Eyewear-a boutique eyeglass store that is also woman-owned and specializes in unique eyewear.
We have also worked with our local SPCA, Toys4Tots, and helped promote other local businesses at our Christmas Market. Now that Smart Social has officially launched, I want to help other businesses improve their social media presence and represent the Space Coast as a truly high-tech community.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Determination. I have failures, problems, issues, hiccups, and stress all the time. I had to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and my determination is what gets me through the tough days.
