Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Otero.
Hi Jose, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Coming from Spanish immigrants, who had to leave their country as a result of World War II and therefore the Spanish Civil War, I was born, raised, and trained professionally in a wonderful country called Venezuela.
Since I was little I always felt concerned about business, surely because I spent so much time and grew up being in my parents’ business, which I visited every day after school. This was the best bookstore and stationery store located in the city that lasted more than 50 years serving its community. It was an emblematic business that everyone visited in this small town and in which customers could get any book, school supplies, or office supplies they needed, in fact, its commercial slogan was “It only takes one book to reach the moon”.
It remains for me an unforgettable memory of my childhood and adolescence, without forgetting that when I was about 11 years old and without even imagining it, my father paid me what was for me, the first salary, which of course took me by surprise, since for me being in my parents’ business and serving customers was fun. Without realizing it, all of this helped me to develop that interest in work and business. I vividly remember serving customers at my parents’ business and being just 10 or 12 years old at the cash register as a teenager.
It is if not years after studying at the university, I begin to take my first steps in business when I travel to New York to buy clothes to sell mainly to my friends and acquaintances. Thus began a long road as an entrepreneur, venturing into other activities over the years, such as information technology, electronics, mass consumption products, etc., which was a lot of learning.
After graduating as an economist, I opened my first company, the first of which was dedicated to importing computer equipment and electronics in general, and the second company was created two years later, specializing in the food area, specifically in the production, marketing, and sale of products derived from cocoa.
In view of the circumstances of recent years, including the pandemic, I have had the need to expand and take new paths and I have decided to do so in this wonderful country that I have always admired and in this city of Orlando that has opened its doors to us from the beginning. It is then in the past year 2021 after taking the time and evaluating well the advantages and risks of this undertaking, that I have decided to create my company “Ameritrading Liquidations” and thereby start the business of wholesale liquidation merchandise.
From the largest and most important department stores and e-commerce platforms in the United States. All this journey to this day would not have been possible without the unconditional support that I have always had from my family and special people who have always been by my side.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As in any undertaking, there are challenges, and although I have experience in managing my companies, it was the first time I was going to do it outside my country, so it means planning almost everything in a very different way.
In the same way, other challenges have been related to the collection of necessary and timely information to be able to offer all our products at the most competitive prices in the market, a time that took me more than two years to collect all the necessary information to be able to give start this venture.

We are a liquidation merchandise wholesale company, we offer all kinds of products such as clothing, footwear, cosmetics, perfumes, appliances, tools, general merchandise, etc., from a box, pallets or lots, to containers, having different investment programs adapted to all types of clients no matter how big or small they may be.
In this sense, we focus on offering programs that require little investment, focused mainly on those entrepreneurs who work from home, as well as those who want to have a second income apart from their formal job, as well as for small merchants, people that have stalled in flea markets, among others.
