Meet Danita Cobb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danita Cobb.

Hi Danita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Danita Cobb, I am the owner of Heavenly Hands Services, LLC. I am the proud mother of three adult children and four grandchildren. Growing up in rural Southeast Georgia the church was my life but at some point, I strayed. At the young age of sixteen, I became pregnant and a mother at seventeen. During some of my youth, I was addicted to drugs and feared that my usage would harm the very children I was brought into this world. Before the birth of my second child, I prayed that if God would allow my son to be healthy, I would have the strength to turn away from drugs and that is how I am here today.

I have worked in the Health Care Field for many years helping with children in Group homes, the elderly in Nursing homes, and working for other Home Health agencies.

After taking a break from the health care industry to pursue other carrier opportunities I decided to visit a client that I had worked for years prior. During this encounter, I expressed my interest in wanting to get back into the field and help people again and to my surprise, he was looking for care for his father. One day while at work I was having a conversation with another associate about starting on our own and it just clicked, “I CAN DO THIS TOO!” I learned about APD, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, and started reaching out to any and everyone who would listen. I truly believe and my children will tell you that the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

I was lucky enough to get in contact with Mr. A. Johnson with APD who helped me with everything from filling out the application to fixing small spelling errors. At one point it was as if he was doing the application for me. It had to be God that allowed me to meet Mr. Johnson. After trying for about a year to get approved I received my approval on November 4th, 2014 and I have been going strong ever since.

I would like to highlight someone who has helped me tremendously during this journey. My colleague, well friend, Trena Wilson has been Heaven sent. After having met in a very odd manner we have been able to become really good friends and she challenges me to continue growing in this business. At the age of 50 to say that I am a successful businesswoman after having overcome some of the hardest punches life can throw at someone is a living testament to God’s grace. This leads me to my favorite scripture Jeremiah 29:11 “FOR I KNOW THE THOUGHTS I THINK TOWARD YOU, SAITH THE LORD, THOUGHTS OF PEACE, AND NOT OF EVIL, TO GIVE YOU AN EXPECTED END”.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, the road has not been easy but the ride has been worthwhile. I’m a very hands-on person so I have to pull myself from the field to make sure the business gets handled but I enjoy working with the people. Being that I am a new owner I have to navigate things with an understanding that I may fail but my faith keeps me pushing forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work with people with disabilities that include both physical and intellectual. I also run a 501c3, Heavenly Hands Hope House, Inc, and I am an Evangelist in my church. I enjoy doing anything that helps people, whether it be leading souls to Christ through my ministry or being able to assist someone with the simple task of feeling independent.

Beyond that, I am most proud of being a mother because that work is never done!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I have been told that I have never met a stranger and that has to be what has made me successful. I just enjoy helping others and using the time that I have here to be as Christ-like as possible.
