Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerome Martin.
Hi Jerome, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I discovered Latin, tropical music, as we say in Europe, in Spain more than 20 years ago and I didn’t know how to dance when the girls invited me. I liked salsa and merengue.
When I returned to Paris, I decided to take Salsa lessons and take a little more interest in music and artists. Salsa has become a passion. So, in 2018 I decided to create my own brand ‘Salsa Es La Cura’ to share my passion for music and to share the history, the culture, the news of salsa.
Why is Salsa the cure? Because Salsa cures everything! Salsa has no borders, it is the rhythm that moves the world. When I listen to this music, I feel good, I feel better. The history and culture of salsa are very rich and bring together many countries in the world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Many media have been broadcasting salsa music and news about artists and new songs for many years, so it is very difficult to enter this market and establish yourself as a new media.
But I realized that very few media finally were dedicated only to salsa, to its history, its culture, its evolution. So I wanted to create a unique website for salsa and Latin music lovers where they can find all the information and news on a single media.
Our website attracts new readers and followers every month all over the world and especially in the United States and Latin America, where the Latin community is the most important.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work in security, investigation and I have a company in France and the Dominican Republic in the real-time geolocation of goods and people.
I am proud to have been able to create my company which allowed me to travel and in particular to discover the Dominican Republic and its Latin, Caribbean culture. There, I found this taste and this interest in Latin music.
Today, I want to visit Latin America, discover countries where salsa is very present like Colombia, Puerto Rico, Peru, Cuba… but also in cities in the United States like Miami, Nueva York.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would like to exchange with people to find out what Latin music brings to their lives, and share with them their culture, their experience and their way of life.
