Today we’d like to introduce you to Aixa Machuca.
Hi Aixa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We are a married couple who came to the United States 7-8 years ago from the island of Puerto Rico. Like many families, we arrived with many goals and dreams, but we found another reality. We discovered that starting a new life in a place far from your roots is much more complicated than you think. On several occasions we found ourselves living on the street and in hotels because our income was not enough despite having up to 2 jobs. After some time, we came to have an encounter with God, he spoke to us and directed us to create Ebenezer Ministries Corp. with the intention of reaching and helping people who face this and many other situations every day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been an easy road, it has been a road of many ups and downs, but God always takes care of us and the community we serve. One of the biggest challenges is finding help from the government entities responsible for meeting the needs of the families and communities in need.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a non-profit organization, we have a food program and help the homeless community. We also have a food bank that serves the community twice a week. We also serve the senior community offering them all available help according to their needs. We also have a monthly program, which identifies a community in need and we will bring our services to them. These are some of the services we offer. It fills us with great joy and satisfaction to see that we can help others who are going through the same situation that we once went through. Our organization focuses on bringing hope of life to those in need through the love of Jesus Christ and his teachings.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Any person or family who finds themselves in difficult situations and who think they are impossible to solve, we want to tell you that while there is life there is hope in Christ Jesus.
