Today we’d like to introduce you to Milena Acevedo.
Hi Milena , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Milena Acevedo, Colombian by birth, I studied systems engineering in my country, and worked for more than ten years in a well-known telecommunications company. 5 years ago I migrated to the US looking for new opportunities since at that time I had resigned from my current job and was going through a very chaotic moment on a personal level. Initially, I traveled only for vacations, but after returning to Colombia and seeing that nothing was working, my cousin, who at that time was already living in the US, opened up a window of possibilities for me to settle in this country; Thanks to her, I arrived in the state of Florida where I currently reside. It was quite a challenge because I didn’t speak the language and I had to start completely from scratch. I arrived in October and in January I already had my first job in a renowned Puerto Rican restaurant where they welcomed me with great affection, I worked with them for almost three years, then due to a very personal matter, I had to retire. And other possibilities began to open up with some brands of entrepreneurs with whom she was a model of their clothing, accessories, swimwear and lingerie. and with whom I had the opportunity to participate in some catwalks that they programmed in the city of Orlando. In January 2020 I found out that I was pregnant and immediately in February we were quarantined due to the global pandemic. All this confinement, far from being a moment of chaos and despair, for me, it was a time that I took advantage of to study, specialize in Digital Marketing and learn about digital strategies.
The lives of countless people were changing, their businesses were closed and a large part of them did not have a robust online presence to support what was coming at the digital level; That was when the idea of creating a mentoring program was born to teach these new entrepreneurs how to create, develop, and potentiate their brands and businesses digitally and in social media. I began to have my first clients, to take some free zoom classes, I was invited to give some virtual talks on marketing, entrepreneurship and social media. From all this my personal brand MYLE ACEVEDO was born, where I also mixed many topics of fitness, healthy eating and personal development, which I am passionate about and have always been anchored in my life.
A year later, the idea of creating a creativity and digital content agency called CUBIK was born, where I create content for RRSS, take photos of products, design online stores, offer a community manager service and am a digital project manager; plus the strategic mentoring and consultancy programs that continue to be my strength since it is the service that most people who contact me are looking for the most. I was recently invited to an event for entrepreneurs where I had the opportunity to share a bit about social media for entrepreneurs. Currently, I continue to work and do collaborations for Brands as a model, and every day studying and delving deeper into everything related to the digital world in order to have the best information for my clients. Without forgetting my work as a mother with my beautiful little boy named Matías, who is my greatest engine for everything I am building.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
live in a country with a language other than my mother tongue, adapt to a new lifestyle, start completely from scratch, because I came to this country with only a suitcase full of dreams to live in a room far from my family, unlearn for learn new things, be a mom and be able to organize my time to be able to fulfill everything scheduled without neglecting my one year and six-month-old baby,
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
