Check Out Beverly Batzel’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly Batzel.

Hi Beverly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born and raised in Southern California, my life and work in entertainment started in front of the camera in Los Angeles. I was a professional dancer by the age of 19 and started touring the world with Disney by the age of 21 as a Dancer, Actress and Singer. After I was done touring, I moved to New York City where I was focused on Dance for a few years and then fell in love with working on set doing more TV, Commercial and Film work. I then moved back out to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an Actress, which is where I eventually found where I really wanted to be…in production.

I have now started my own production company RYA PRODUCTIONS and do freelance work as a Director/ Producer/ Production Coordinator and sometimes Assistant Directing. I decided LA wasn’t the only place to work with other creative minds and started to push content to other cities, and gain more experience working outside of LA. Orlando became one of them over the last year and I hope to continue to share my time between Los Angeles & Orlando, building clients and creating stories. Orlando has a lot of talented people and there are so many surrounding cities with fantastic opportunities for production in Florida.

I look forward to future success in the state of Florida working in Production. Who says you HAVE to be in LA?! 😉

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has just begun, and I am having fun enjoying the process. Networking is the best way to keep work consistent in this Industry… so that is the majority of what I am trying to do right now.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Director/Producer/Production Coordinator with a love for telling real, raw and relatable stories. People love to be entertained, but they also love watching or listening to the content they can relate to. I try to create stories people can feel, whether that is happy, sad or angry… but the goal is to allow viewers to feel connected with whatever they are watching.

I am known for hustling, dance background, music videos, and running sets that are professional, honest and respectful. One of my main reasons for moving “above the line” is to make sure a set is being run to the best of its ability. Preparation is key in production, but learning to balance and flow while being on set without getting extremely stressed out is KEY. My sets are ran solely based on the fact we are here to do what we love, nothing else. No ego, no judgment, no disrespect. Hollywood has had way to much time to correct the way things are handled in this industry and I don’t sit around and wait for change… I make the changes and try to inspire others to do so as well.

I am most proud of the fact…where I am sitting today writing this out… is all a reflection of hard work and persistency. I did not go to film school and I didn’t listen to those who told me to go. I am proud I stuck with my gut and followed my heart. My path hasn’t been easy… but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Everything I stated above sets me apart from others, especially in Entertainment. Creating stories/content as an artist makes you feel alive… what better feeling? That is where everything stems from in what I do. From the start of pre-production to the picture lock on post…each process should be your best, until the next one.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
#1: Be prepared
#2: Do the work
#3: Do not stress even when it’s stressful, you’ll get it done. And if it doesn’t get done, you weren’t prepared and I guarantee you wont make the same mistake again.
#4: Do not pay attention to the money
#5: If you like what you created, that’s all that matters
#6: Do your best.
