Today we’d like to introduce you to Annalie Michaud.
Hi Annalie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my journey during quarantine in 2020. COVID ruined the rest of my senior year of high school and I was bored out of my mind. So I thought it would be cool to come out of quarantine with a new skill. Prior to COVID, I was that girl that always had her nails done and I enjoyed watching nail techs do nails on YouTube. So, one day I decided to learn how to do nails myself. I spent hours on end watching YouTube videos, picking something up from different techs. Once those stimulus checks started hitting my account, I used that money to invest in my business. I instantly fell in love with the craft and I haven’t let up since. I spent months getting the basics down and I finally felt ready to try on an actual person. Of course, that first set was atrocious, but I was getting better every time I did a set. Each set was a learning experience and I was able to apply what I learned from the previous set and do better on the next set. At first, nails was just supposed to be a side hustle, but then the owners of a Nail Salon reached out to me via DM on Instagram & asked me to come work at their salon. I knew this was an opportunity sent from God himself so I took a leap of faith, quit my job, & was doing nails full time. There, I was able to build up clientele, grow my socials, & really master my craft. And I think it’s safe to say after almost 2 years in the game, all my hard work is beginning to pay off.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My nail journey definitely wasn’t easy. Running a business is never easy. One struggle I had at first was confidence. I lacked a lot of confidence when it came to my work. When scrolling through Instagram, you see a lot of the other techs’ work. I began to compare my work to theirs and I started to get a little discouraged because my work didn’t look as good as theirs. But over time, I learned that every nail tech is unique and has their own way of doing things. I had to remind myself that all these techs started from the bottom and their work got better over time and so will mine. So to anyone wanting to start their nail journey, remember that this is called a journey for a reason. It’s a process and you’ll grow everyday. Once you get over your insecurities and focus on your growth, you’ll see how much you and your business will flourish. So just start!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a licensed nail technician here in the state of Florida. I specialize in & known for acrylic nail extensions. One thing I am most proud of is that I started my own business from the bottom up. I invested in myself and found something that I am truly passionate about all at 18 years old and proud that 2 years later my business is still growing. & I’m the first entrepreneur in my family. What I think sets me apart from others is that I put God in the center of my business. He’s blessed me with the opportunity to service tons of beautiful women. And there’s not a lot of young women my age that can say they make their living off something their passionate about. Because of him, my business has done nothing but flourish. Also, I strive to make sure that my clients leave my chair with a smile on their faces & work my hardest every day to provide the greatest customer service. .
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
It would have to be traveling to Haiti to see my extended family. We spent the whole day at the beach, ate good food, and had a blast.
